The ecosystem I have chosen is tropical rainforest. In the following paragraphs, I am going to firstly introduced the structure of tropical rainforest in brief, with the second part of the plant ecology and last the diversity within this ecosystem.

Geographical location- basically, tropical rainforest is roughly taking place within the latitude 28 degrees north or south of the equator, concentrated in South America at the same time, scattered in Africa and south Asia. The Peninsula de osa in Costa Rica , which is located in the middle America, bordering both the Caribbean Sea and the North Pacific Ocean, between Nicaragua and Panama. The emergent layer, which is also the highest layer, contains a small number of very large trees, called emergent, reaching heights of 45–55 m.
The canopy is the primary layer of the forest forming a roof over the two remaining layers. It contains the majority of the largest trees, typically 30–45 m in height. Tall, broad-leaved evergreen trees are the dominant plants.
The understory layer lies between the canopy and the forest floor. The understory is home to a number of birds, small mammals, insects, reptiles, and predators.
The forest floor, the bottom-most layer, receives only 2% of the sunlight. Only plants adapted to low light can grow in this region.
Under this distribution, plants grow with different characteristics in order to adapt the environment.

The first plant will be introduced is Gamboge, Garcinia hanburyi Hook.f. , which is a dicotyledonous plant. The leaves are in opposite arrangement. The apex of leaf is obtuse. It grows in tropical area and the fruit is berry typed with a smooth skin on top. The xylem sap is usually used in to put on the wound or being treated to synthesize Chinese herbs.
