Anemia is a disorder of the blood. It occurs when your body does not produce enough erythrocytes or red blood cells. Without the erythrocytes oxygen cannot be adequately delivered to the tissues and organs throughout the body. There are several different types of anemia. Some of these include haemorrhagic, iron-deficiency, aplastic, and pernicious. Pernicious anemia is one of many types of the larger family of megaloblastic anemias. It is a condition in which the body cannot make enough healthy red blood cells because it doesn't have enough vitamin B12 circulating in the blood. It is characterized by an abnormal or megaloblastic type of erythropoiesis in which red blood cells appear larger than regular red blood cells. These large numbers of immature or incompletely developed cells do not function like healthy red blood cells leading to oxygen deficiency throughout the organs and tissues of the body. Since these cells are underdeveloped they also have a shorter life expectancy.
Pernicious anemia has been studied by many different researchers, starting in the late 17th century. Between 1876 and 1877 William Osler and William Gardner studied a patient they suspected of pernicious anemia. Their findings were that the patient had the following symptoms: numbness in the fingers, hands, and forearms, the gastric mucosa was atrophic, and high levels of red bloods cells containing nuclei were found in the bone marrow. Further studies found that the blood of a patient with this type of anemia had abnormally large red blood cells with low haemoglobin levels. Doctors during the 20th century knew that patients were anemic but common cures for anemia did not work. This was until the 1920’s when two physicians, George Minot and William Murphy,...

...heir health. Although PA is relatively easy to treat, signs and symptoms can go unnoticed and this disease can be fatal. If untreated, the body cells attack its own cells in the body until there isn’t any fight left. First, this disease starts on a cellular level, destroying cells. This starts a domino effect in the body because the body doesn’t have enough oxygen rich red blood cells, but the body is still producing cells without haemoglobin. This loss of haemoglobin leads to low blood pressure, and thus causing edema in the ankles. The heart slowly loses the contractility of the muscles, and causes heart murmurs as well as cardiac pain. Then the spinal column is affected from the loss of oxygen in the blood, causing lower spinal issues which leads to trouble walking, and holding yourself upright. As is evidently clear if left untreated death will eventually occur.
Archaeologists have been popular characters in American Fiction at least since the 1920’s. In the movie The Fifth Element directed by Adrian Lyne an archaeologist makes a startling discovery, which kicks off the entire plot for the movie. The setting is a popular one for that of archaeologists which is Egypt in the year 1914.
Professor Le Blanc claimed to have always wanted to do something like this due to how, as a child, a family member had a mythology book. From then on she fell in love with the subject and when she came to college and found out that there was an job in this field (Roman Archaeology) she was overjoyed and knew that she had found what she wanted to spend the rest of her life doing.

Archaeologists are trying very hard to understand the ethnographers. They do this because they want to understand just what it is that they are digging up, and the best way to find out is to ask the people who use them. Of course they are not perfect, and some archaeologists dig competitively (almost like tomb raiders), but overall, we can learn a lot about ancient people from the work of these two groups of scientists working together with the past and the present.
Each year athlete’s ability to perform seems to increase by leaps and bounds. Some reasons for this can be attributed to better training methods, better conditioning techniques, and better over all health of the athlete. While most situations involve one or more of the previously scenarios, some athletes always seem to take it to a step further. They engage in a process called blood doping. This procedure does increase physical performance and athletic ability, but potentially may do more harm than good.
Many people believe that once archaeologists make a discovery, the discovery goes to a museum and the archaeologist`s job is done. Although this is the popular belief and often-depicted on T.V and movies such as Indiana Jones, this could not be further from the truth. Once an archaeologist discovers a body. The archaeologist must investigate the biological remains in order make inferences about antiquity, subsistence and settlement patterns, diet, social and political life, and ideology.
The artifact record keeping strategies and practices of archaeologists and excavators can be compared to modern day bookkeeping as every artifact has to be journalized and posted to some sort of a ledger as every transaction in accounting has to be analyzed, then journalized and posted to a ledger.
Vitamin B12 deficiency is common in the United States and often responsible for anemia and neurologic symptoms, particularly in the elderly.

Pyroluria is a blood disease that results from the defective synthesis of hemoglobin in the blood. The disease results in massive excretion of zinc and a build-up of copper. Hemoglobin is that all-important molecule of the blood made of iron and proteins that transports binds to and transports oxygen and carbon-dioxide to and from every cell in the body. It makes up 96% of a red blood cell’s dry mass, approximately 15g per liter of blood. During the creation of this molecule, a waste product called kryptopyrrole is also synthesized. Usually this molecule is benign and the body excretes it through urine, but when certain genes are activated it binds to zinc, vitamin B6, and Omega 6’s. This prevents these critical components from being used in synthesis, and they are excreted along with the kryptopyrrole.

...anges which occurred over a period of time and why these changes occurred but who was responsible for them. Archaeological findings are essential especially when there is a lack of written primary sources. The most common findings in this field include; cave art, pottery, and weaponry used for both hunting and fighting. In later cases of archaeological excavations written evidence was well provided and artifacts recovered at the site were used as an aid in studying a particular culture. Moreover, it is quite obvious that all of the following elements pertaining to archaeology have positively contributed to our further understanding of human culture in previous centuries. Discoveries by archeologists not only give us significant insight into our past but they also give us essential information necessary for a comprehensive understanding of our present and our future.
With the evolution of available technologies and methodologies, some archaeologists became frustrated with the traditional ways of archaeology; they felt that the new technologies should be used to improve archaeology and the outcomes of professionals in the field. The New Archaeology was a movement that sought to contribute to the existing anthropological knowledge of human behavior by emerging as a science and separating itself from the historical approach. New archaeology did not merely incorporate scientific technology, but it also employed various scientific methods and approaches.
When children of young ages are asked what they want to be when they grow up, they may say "The Presdient!" or "a Rockstar!". But most rarely do you hear someone saying they want to be a Treasure Hunter or a Hurricane Hunter, or an Archeologist. Thats why the search to find these brave people to carry out discoveries are wanted but are all of their duties needed? Is finding ancient spanish treasure or ancient Egyptian civilizations a musthave for this country, or is it just another occupation that many take on as a hobby.
Thalassemia is a blood disorder transferred through families. It occurs when the body makes less hemoglobin than needed or an unusual form of hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is the protein in red blood cells that carry oxygen. The disorder makes an excessive amount of destruction of red blood cells. This eventually leads to anemia.
