Overall I found the ACA's standards to be very comprehensive with regard to camp transportation operations. The ACA standards not only ensure current vehicle maintenance, but they extend into specific camp needs such as the need for pre-arranged non-emergency medical transportation, for example. These standards could be easily synthesized into a checklist of sorts to create the optimum safety for camp transportation. I've identified three different common forms of transportation to and from camp: personal cars, church vans, and chartered busses. Because the standards vary for each of these categories I wanted to make sure I include these three scenarios.
Personal vehicles (non-chartered and not owned by camp) are used when parents individually bring kids to camp, and can pertain to TR.1, TR.2, TR.3, TR. 4, and TR. 5 (Accreditation Standards, 2012, p. 54-57) Granted, there is a factor of overlap and redundancy in the standards. In summary these five standards require some communication between parents to inform them of arrival and departure times and designated parking areas, and in addition the require some policies on the use of private vehicles for camp functions and rules on the use of private vehicles on camp property.
With regard to using personal vehicles for transportation I thought a simple vehicle checklist would be helpful. The camp may find it necessary at times to transport campers whether it be to an off-site recreation area or for non-emergency medical transport. A sample checklist was found at: http://www.tdi.texas.gov/pubs/videoresource/cklvehicle.pdf. This is a simple vehicle safety checklist that covers twenty-two points of safety from simple mechanical factors to staff training. Parents might a...

...ve parents directions. Overall our transportation needs are very minimal. We don't offer any transportation around camp as it is fairly small. We don't offer any off-site activities. And we don't offer transportation up to camp from a central location (such as a church). However, we have considered offering activities which would require transportation and so it is nice to know where to go to find the best practices.

Going away to camp, for most people, is a good experience. There people would interact with friends and play games. Going away to camp is all around a fun past time. Most people saw camp was a vacation, to get away from work or school or just reality all together. There are different types of camp. Rocking out with Mitchie ( Demi Lovato ) and Joe (Joe Jonas ) at Camp Rock in the movie Camp Rock to working on health and fitness with Rachel and Taylor in the movie Fat Camp and then there is Sugar Camp. Sugar Camp was the complete opposite of the first thing that comes to mind, when the word “Camp” is heard or thought of. From a small cottage to a camp of sixty cabins, Sugar Camp has managed to get through a training program, go through a world war, and become part of Dayton’s history. It all started with a man by the name of John Patterson.
The structure of the risk assessment is based on the NIST 800-30 document. The purpose of the risk assessment will state the goal, from which the camper’s viewpoint will be completed, and the importance of completing a risk assessment. The scope will address what will and what will not be analyzed and which location will be the focal point of this risk
On nine passenger station wagons from the 60s, the third row seat is just behind the rear axle. Having three average size people in this seat adds more than 350 pounds after the rear wheels. The farther back the seat, the more leverage it applies to the down force. This provides far superior traction than throwing snow in the back of a pickup truck. In fact, with [a good set of tires] and a locking rear differential, the station wagon turned into a snowmobile.
When we arrived at the campground, the first thing the staff did was assign a tent to each Pathfinder – a most cumbersome task. The tent that Mrs. Masha initially selected for me happened to house babblers who planned to chatter all night instead of sleep. So I was transferred to a different tent. It held only one other camper, for her partner had decided to relocate to a more nocturnal abode. The other girl returned the next night, though, so I was sent back to that first tent.

The camp offers, what they call, “Interest groups”, which allows campers to pick activities they want to try out for a week. The second week I was there, I signed up
All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) are a fun way for families to enjoy the outdoors. Indeed, ATVs can be enjoyed by people of all ages and may safely be driven by young children. However, choosing the right size ATV for your children is very important. Furthermore, restricting access to children that understand how to operate the controls is essential.
Based on available resources, 40000 people die each year in car accidents. This figure is an intimidating figure because it show the occurrence of death in a crash. In this accident, the leading cause of death is people under the age of 35 years old. Safety belts can prevent death in about half of these accident.
One solution for improving student transportation is offering a shuttle service. Although, UTSA already provides a shuttle service, it is limited to only two routes and can be unreliable. The transportation service at UTSA recommends waiting at the shuttle stop “30 to 45 minutes before your scheduled class time” (Business . . .). The thought of waiting in freezing temperatures trying to hide from the icy rain can be disheartening for some but it is a reality for students whose only way of transportation is through the shuttle. As a result of similar issues, Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey, “provides 40 buses on 10 routes complete with GPS tracking“(Horan 52). The purpose of GPS trackin...
Many students these days ride buses to transport them to and from school. Elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools have taking the bus as an option to get to school. There are also buses for transportation of children and teenagers with disabilities. The buses for disabled children need to stay an option for transportation.
"Hey, be careful and don't do anything stupid," my dad said to me right before I hopped into Chase Miller's dark blue Chevy S-10 with a camper shell on the back. I looked at Chase and Tyler Becker and said, "Let's go camping." As Chase pushed down the gas pedal, a big cloud of black smoke shot out of the back of the truck and the smell of burning motor oil filled the cab.
At the Boy Scout summer camp I worked at every Wednesday we would put on Native American dances and an open camp for visitors to come in and watch. The problem with doing these shows and open camp is that not all of the families are able to go see some of the Scouts camps because they are disabled. At the camp we have a hill called “suicide hill” because of the length and the angle of this hill that leads to all of the campsites besides three of them. An improvement that would be for these events would to offer some kind of transportation so that disabled visitors can see their child or grandchild’s campsite. Also, more handicap parking will allow more visitors into the camp to watch the show and
Camping is a fun experience whether it be with your family, friends, or by yourself. However, it all depends on what you’re camping in that makes your experience worthwhile. Camping in a camper or motorhome is more convenient and efficient than camping in a tent. In my own camping experience, I feel that having a camper is much more enjoyable than a tent. When camping in a camper you’re able to experience the outdoors with the luxury of feeling at home.
