Tramadol Drug Fact Sheet
This paper, while not intended as a comprehensive report of every fact about the analgesic drug Tramadol, will provide an in-depth review of all pertinent information.
Tramadol Description
Tramadol is a pain reliever used to treat moderate to severe pain. Classification of Tramadol falls under the opiate analgesic category (NIH 2013). People should consider taking Tramadol if other drugs or alternative methods do not successfully manage their pain. The estimated cost of a prescription of Tramadol is $5.00 (NPS 2008). Tramadol is available in an immediate release (IR) formula, taken 4 – 6 times a day, or a sustained release (SR) formula taken twice daily (Grond & Sablotzki 2004).
