German Captain Robert von Beringe and his African soldiers stumbled upon two mountain gorillas around the volcanic region on October 17, 1902 (von Beringe, 2002, p.9). Von Beringe captured and killed one of them and sent the body to the Zoological Museum in Berlin, Germany. Zoos are not a place to imprison animals. Harambe was a large 17 year old, Western lowland gorilla. On May 18, 2016 a 4 year old boy got curious and ventured into the gorilla enclosure. Harambe saw the boy fall in the moat and dragged him out of the water by his leg. The child spent at least 10 minutes in the enclosure and if Harambe had an intention to kill or harm the kid, he would have done it when the boy fell.
