Dallas Love Field (DAL) located in Dallas, Texas has roots dating back to the early 1900s. DAL was a military airfield maintained by the U.S. Army to train pilots. In 1913, First Lieutenant Moss Lee Love was killed during a training flight in San Diego, California. The U.S. Army honored Lieutenant Love by naming the Texas military airfield, “Love Field” on October 19, 1917 (DAL, n.d.).
