Women entrepreneurs are a special breed. They seem to have something extra special or an X factor to them compared to the men. Although many entrepreneurs are men, women are slowly discovering the world of entrepreneurship and making drastic changes in their own way. One of the women who succeeded in meeting the challenges and making the change is Toni Maraviglia from Kenya.
Toni Maraviglia is one of the founders of Eneza (formerly known as MPrep). Aside from being a co-founder, she is also the CEO of the company. Her company and her product are based on education and technology.
Eneza works as a text messaging service where students can learn and review lessons. Students can pick a subject and a short quiz based on that. The data collected from the student’s performance in quizzes can be accessed by teachers and parents. Additionally, data can also be compared to other students’ within the country. This makes the data more useful and efficient, especially in terms of gauging student performance. The process is also streamlined since it uses mobile phones, bypassing test papers for students and grade records for teachers.
The service is also flexible; any area that has a mobile connection can use it. Another advantage of Eneza is that the students are actually having fun while learning and they can use their own mobile to do so. Most of the Eneza’s customers are young students who are poor and needed to prepare for school and national exams.
Eneza provides a centralised database, high quality content and data resources. It helps a lot of students to continue their education, lessen the dropout rate and find viable jobs after school. Using mobile phones, Eneza can also reach the students individually, thus, making the student...

Eneza provided a very accessible and less time consuming tool for teachers while considering how students want to learn. Using Eneza, Toni takes up the challenge of improving education in less developed countries using available technology.
Toni Maraviglia has a lot on her plate as an entrperneur and she’s a very busy lady. Her challenges might be big (funding, investments, innovations, logistics, day-today operations, reaching her targets and others) but she’s hopeful that she can persevere. Also, the joy of helping students learn and learning for their success is paramount to a teacher’s heart. And a student who will attend high school with the use of her service is almost the pinnacle of success.
Toni and Eneza Education teaches us that it doesn’t need to be high-tech nor expensive to be efficient,. effective and useful for clients.
