Is our home starting to warm? What happens if it does? The issue of global warming is one that could have adverse effects on the way we live our lives. There are some things that must first be understood about global warming before we decide what to do like what it is, what causes it, how is it measured and what are the effects? So what is global warming? Global warming is described as an increase in the temperature of the earth’s surface. The more commonly used definition that is circulated is that global warming is climate change caused by human doings. This “human-caused” warming is called anthropogenic (“Global Warming Definitions”). There are many ways that natural global warming can take place. Greenhouse gases are ones that trap the heat of the earth and reflect it back (“Global Warming Definitions”). Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an example of these. Greenhouse gases are given this name because they act like a giant greenhouse around the earth (“Climate”). These gases can be put into the air as a by-product of what humans use to run their lives. This is the main reason why a lot of people are blaming humans for the warming (“Global Warming Causes”). One source says there are other natural causes such as water vapor which is basically clouds, methane which cows are constantly giving off, and chlorofluorocarbons which used to be found in refrigerators. Even small changes in the output of the sun can change the surface temperature of the earth. There are also some other minor things that can slowly change the temperature of the earth. One of these things is the small change in the earth’s orbit that takes place about every 100,000 years this can cause slow warming and cooling of the earth (“Climate”). Firstly, global warming is said to be caused by the high levels of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere by humans. Smoke produced by factories, vehicular exhaust, and the burning of fossil fuels such as coal in power plants are the primary sources of carbon dioxide. The theory is that carbon dioxide being released into the Earth's atmosphere is steadily building up because it cannot escape into space. The theory as to why the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere actually causes the Earth's average temperature to rise is outlined as follows:
Global warming, or climate change is a gradual increase in average temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and its’ oceans. It is thought that global warming is permanently changing the climate. So, how exactly does global warming increase the Earth’s average temperature? Well, it is done by something called the greenhouse effect. When the sunlight hits our atmosphere the greenhouse gases only allows so much sunlight into the atmosphere while redirecting the rest back into space. This is what keeps Earth from being too hot or too cold. When people are adding pollution to the air – the burning of fossil fuels – they are actually destroying the ozone layer. If the ozone layer

Global warming and the greenhouse effect are issues discussed by scientists all the time. A natural process that keeps earths temperature at a livable rate is called the greenhouse effect. The energy from the sun warms up the earth when the rays from the sun are absorbed by greenhouse gases. The gasses then become trapped in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane and nitrous oxide are the most common greenhouse gases.

Background and Audience Relevance: There are always conversations about our planet. We see our earths glaciers melting, weather temperature rising, and pollution affecting our resources. But for some reasons we tend to look away. We should be more aware of this potential event and I’m here to inform everyone about what actually is global warming and the effects of it.

Global warming is the term used to describe a gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and its oceans, a change that is believed to be permanently changing the Earth's climate. While it changes the Earth’s climate it takes away different species that we depend on and some which other species depend on and also effect (in a bad way) the environment in which we live and can cause permanent damages to humans, animals, plant which will change the whole chain of ecosystem.
One of the most substantial problems in the world today is global warming. This gradual warming of the earth is in occurrence at an extremely slow rate but it is happening. Many scientists believe that as human’s work and release greenhouse gases into the earth’s atmosphere, it can become dangerous for the long lasting life of humans and our environment. “Unless we take immediate action, the impacts of global warming will continue to intensify, grow ever more costly and damaging, and increasingly affect the entire planet - including you, your community, and your family” (“Global Warming Impacts”). Everyone should be knowledgeable about global warming and the dangers that it brings to our planet. This essay will examine
Climate changes occur in our earth's atmosphere due to a buildup of greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases can occur naturally as well as a result of human activities. The greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. “Carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere when solid waste, fossil fuels, and wood are burned.” (2) The gases help to warm the surface of the Earth. Each greenhouse gas absorbs heat differently. If natural gases did not occur, the temperature of the earth would be considerably cooler. “Problems can occur when higher concentrations of greenhouse gases are present in our atmosphere because they have enhanced our earth's heat trapping capability.” (3)
The common definition of global warming is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth’s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants (Global warming, Wikipedia). Moreover, the effects of global warming will bring ecological and social changes. Because there is no exact way to predict the effects of global warming, it is almost impossible to say how strong global warming will affect life in the future.
