Some of the most well know authors and poets have indirectly impacted the world in one way or another, with the use of their literary works. Whether it be opening oneself up to the philosophies or ideologies of the author, or by improving an individual's English comprehension and composition skills. For example authors such as Harper Lee; the novelist of “To Kill A Mockingbird,” have depicted through her book the unjust and inhumane treatment of African Americans in America’s South. It is hard to believe that at one time these world renowned authors and poets were once the prodigies of English literature teachers. And in this research paper we will examine the role English literature teacher play in the worlds past, present, and future generation. Along with the educational and job experience required to become a Secondary High School teacher.

A teacher should not only be able to teach well and follow the curriculum of their taught subject, but they should also be able to inspire, motivate and discipline their students. Especially a great English literature teacher. A ‘good’ English literature teacher will teach their student the basis of grammar, composition, and structure then application of English writing. But a great English literature teacher will forever have a lasting impact upon their disciple, a great teacher will be able to provide their students with genuine interest in the mechanics of English literature. A English teacher has the benefit of possibly motivating their students into becoming one of the worlds next best influential speaker, writer, poet, celebrity or artist. I wholeheartedly believe a qualification on a piece of paper does not endow someone the skills of becoming a teacher. The greatest teachers from my experience always treated the curriculum the way a skilled tailor treats a coat hanger. Its a useful tool to use but something that needs to be adorned to be made relevant. My best teacher and favorite course since entering High School have always been my English teachers. Why? Because these teacher did not rely on the schools provided curriculum, like a crutch to make their student succeed in English. rather it was because they provided their students with genuine interest in the topics at hand. These teachers are intelligent, insightful, creative, hardworking and just simply beautiful people and they all have inspired and motivated me to become a great educator myself.
