Ludwig van Beethoven, or more commonly known as just “Beethoven” was baptized on December 17, 1770 in Bonn. His family originated from Brabant, Belgium and Ludwig van Beethoven was born into music. Both his father and grandfather were in the electoral choir. Ludwig’s parents were Johann and Maria Magdalena van Beethoven. Ludwig van Beethoven was the oldest of three brothers, however he had 6 siblings in which three did not make it. Beethoven’s father, Johann, was an alcoholic. However, his mother was the complete opposite. She was a gentle caring mother, and also Ludwig’s best friend (Ludwig van Beethoven). At an early age Ludwig took an interest in music. For a someone like Beethoven to meet such a prodigy like Mozart, this would promote his music career, and possibly define him as a music composer. It is believed that Mozart said “Don’t forget his name- you will hear it spoken often.” The same year that Beethoven went to Vienna to meet Mozart, he was returned home because of his mother dying. Ludwig stayed with his mother while she was dying. Five years later he returned to Vienna, Austria, and never went back to his birthplace, Bonn. Beethoven took music lessons with well-known composers such as Haydyn, Albrechsberger, and Saliene. In 1794 Beethoven composed Opus 1 the Trios for piano. In 1795 Beethoven had his first public performance in Vienna where he played his music he had composed. After his first performance in Vienna, he went on tour. He traveled and performed in Prague, Bresden, Leipzig, and Berlin. After he toured he played a concert in Budapest. Ludwig van Beethoven is still known today for having an excessive impulsive behavior, but it was excused because of his talent with music. Everyone admired Beethoven, and his performance in Vienna struck that. In 1800 Beethoven composed his first symphony at the age of thirty he composed his first symphony. His mother, Maria Magdalena van Beethoven died in 1787. In 1815 Ludwig’s brother, Caspar, died on November fifteenth. Caspar was preceded by his wife and their nine-year-old son. His brother left the guardianship of his son to his widowed wife and Ludwig. Beethoven was in his forties and found it difficult to juggle raising a nine-year-old, his deafness, and his music. Ludwig tried to teach his nephew music, but he never succeeded and eventually the boy took up a life in the army
