Social media began in 1969 and started affecting teenagers’ lives in 1971 when the first email was sent. Out of almost 3 billion users of Facebook, Twitter and other social networks, millions of them are teenagers (Facebook 1). Teenagers spend too much time on social network putting their lives on different types of risks like cyber bullying, risk their education, illegal activities, loneliness, and drama. As time passes, more and more teenagers are being attracted to the new social networks. Thanks to all this all new social pages, younger people are able to start using the internet just like teenagers and adults use it and they are putting themselves in more danger than teenagers since they sometimes use false information to access these pages and are more likely to be convinced of doing something wrong or be affected by others. The Government is not doing anything to stop the over use of social network among teens and younger people.

Teenagers today depend too much on their social pages and sometimes they don’t even know what is going on around them. One of the big problems of this overuse is being cyber bullied. For example, according bullyingstatistics.org “Cyber bullying can lead to anxiety, depression, and even suicide” (Cyber Bullying Statistics 2). Many cyber bullies think that bullying others online is funny without thinking of the consequences that sometimes might end in legal charges. Also, the bullies might even convince them to do illegal activities by intimidating them. Acma.gov.au says “Never post comments encouraging violence, never post offensive images, don’t upload photos or videos of you and others engaging in illegal activity can get you in trouble with the law, and downloading and disturbing pirated music and movies without permission is illegal and risks computer viruses”( Illegal social networking activity 1). Teens need to be precautious and report incongruous messages or comments they receive from someone they don’t know especially if they have an egregious content. Sometimes that kind of problems can to drama among teenagers. Teenagers post things about their personal life, giving an opinion, or talking bad about someone they don’t like or something they disagree with, which sometimes leads to fights or conflicts with their families. Putting more personal information in those social pages causes more trouble with the owner of the information if someone can access their account’s private things just by using that information.

Another problem is loneliness.
