As we all know, the Patriots had won the war and the British lost. But, what caused them to lose, was it the fact that it was an effect of strategy or learning from their previous, regretful mistakes? How did the Americans defeat one of the most powerful countries in the world. First, let’s look at some primary reasons of why the British lost. To start, the Americans had a “home advantage” while the British were fairly far from their own homeland. Also, the Americans had much help from the French. The British, as well, did not take the Americans too seriously, let alone them fighting the Americans. This led to British military making many different mistakes. Lastly, the Americans pushed through victory because of having a big abundance of American Patriotism. Now, let’s get deeper into each one of these reasons, the first one being that the Americans had an advantage. This was a fairly big advantage because the Americans were fighting in their own field, in their own mother-country. Why was this benefit important and how did it help? It was a big benefit because they new ways to leave and go in, basically, they knew the land so well like it was their left hand. However, for the British, they were very far from their land so they didn’t know too much about the field. This, then, limited the British military’s efficiency. (They, in addition, had a difficult time reaching out to England.) The second point is that the Americans had a lot of help from the French, all reaching to gain independence. First off, they gave the American army experienced officers or militants. They also helped in giving them power, money, and supplies in general. The Americans and French at this point, made it as if it were a world war to the British because it led to political penalty for the British. Finally, they provided the Americans with a proficient fleet, or navy, that later on played a huge role in the surrender of the British. Another primary reason the British lost, which I believe was the real reason they lost, was because, their effect of strategy. The British never really took the Americans seriously, so in this war, they did not use their ideal or traditional strategy. The British commanders struggled from their lack of strategy, an example being the lack of communication between the commanders and armies, which leads them into losing wars.
