The literature on stevia sugar and their effects show a variety of approaches. A considerable amount of literature has been published on stevia and previous studies indicate that stevia is a great product as it promotes many health benefits.
Rajesh et al. (2010) studied the effects of Stevia Rebaudiana Bertoni extract on anti-cancer activity on mice. The findings of his research showed that at the doses of 100 and 300 mg/kg/i.p., it inhibits cell proliferation count significantly. The results also showed decreased body weight, total cell count and cholesterol level. However, the findings obtained were discovered to be dosage dependent.
Anton et al. (2010) conducted a research to determine the effects of aspartame, stevia and sucrose on the food intake, satiety and postprandial glucose and insulin levels. They found out that the participants did not compensate by eating when they consumed a lower calorie preloads containing stevia or aspartame.
