Since time began human beings have grown tremendously in how we interact and communicate with one another. People started out communicating by speaking in person, then by letters, and now by a smartphone. Social Media is a big part of today’s society. Websites and app’s like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter allow family, friends and businesses to communicate with one another from all over the world. Businesses use these websites to promote sales, send out coupons, and also to keep up with what people are saying about their product. Fancois Gossieaux said, “Social media allows us to behave in ways that we are hardwired for in the first place – as humans. We can get frank recommendations from other humans instead of faceless companies.” Not only can you use social media sites to ask your family and friends about products; you can also reach people in different states or even countries what they might think of that product. Articles from Michael Juregens, The Artice written by UWire, and the essay YouTube verse Boobtube, all three of these talk about how social media is affecting today’s society. Social Media has affected businesses by more communication between consumers, negatively impacting businesses with the ‘Next Big Thing’, and also how they advertise.
Social Media allows human being to connect and communicate from all over the world. On commercials some companies use actors to play real customers. If a consumer hears an actor say they love a product and how it made them happy chances are they will want to go out and buy it. People are now realizing they do not have to listen to just those actors, their friends or their family. Social media has changed how the world communicates and spends money. Society has come a long way on how it communicates with one another. From the pony express all the way to those annoying group messages, people’s incrediable connection with each other expands from all over. How consumers communicate about businesses and products have drastically changed. Social Media has affected businesses by more communication between consumers, negatively impacting businesses with the ‘Next Big Thing’, and also how they advertise. Social Media may have more positive effects now but it could also end in destruction of companies and corporations. Sometimes too much of a good thing is a terrible thing.
