What determines your chance to survive or not? Everyone comes to a point in their life when they experience struggle. There are two factors that come into play during the struggle to survive. There is the acceptance of one's fate of being in that situation or the personal choices that are put forward. In dire situations one's survival depends not only on the initial chance of being at the wrong place at the wrong time, but also on one's choice to take the necessary actions needed to survive.
One's chance of surviving or not could be the problem of them being in a certain place at a certain time. During the Johnstown Flood, the dreadful thought of being there in that situation crossed many people's minds. For the people that chose to travel on the train that day, they got caught in the terrible flowing water. The train did not plan to stop on the tracks, at that time, on that day, in Johnstown. It was just fate for those who got stuck in the awful flood. It was also just pure bad luck for those seventy-five people who chose to stay at the hotel in Johnstown. They had no idea that there was going to be a tragic break in the dam (Johnstown Flood). On the opposite side of things, one's fate can be good. Only two people at the hotel in Johnstown somehow miraculously survived when it looked like they shouldn't have. The two survivors should practice the survival trait "Count Your Blessings" from Deep Survival (Gonzales 97). They were caught in a rough spot, but they were lucky to survive it. Each day they should live forward knowing the chance that they are still alive is a blessing. Some face this point in their life where their chance of survival was involved with consequences that they were unaware of.

If somebody has a chance to survive they should be thankful and fight with everything they have. Depending on the situation, survival traits or just pure luck could save one's life.

Well there is always the fate aspect in everything that occurs in our lives but majority of the outcomes created from the individuals own decisions. It is up to the individual to determine what can occur, if they do one thing then something will be the outcome. A side from that, there is always the possibility of being at the wrong place at the wrong time which can have an affect of on the outcomes of life.

It’s easy to say that everything happens for a reason because it allows people to avoid taking responsibility for their, and others actions. Believing in fate gives people the option to “go with the flow” believing that whatever comes belongs to some master plan.. If someone loses their job, they instinctively turn to something greater than them in hopes of aid, but the truth is that it is entirely up to said person to get their life back. There is no outside help in life, we all drift alone throughout it, only certain that one day we’ll die and fade into oblivion. leaving our loved ones to grieve over our departure while we turn to dust, missing the rest of the short lifespan of our insignificant planet in the infinite sea of the universe.
On the morning of September 11, 2001, exactly at 9:22 a.m., I woke up to start my day and turned my television on. Instantly, Fox News had reported that a commercial plane had smashed into the Twin Towers of New York City, just minutes earlier. While the story was certainly shocking, I wanted to know more and watched the horrific aftermath unfold, as it continued to happen. I remember an incredible feeling of sadness that I could do nothing to help the people in these buildings, as well as a great concern that more attempts could be made to create further tragedy elsewhere.
Williams’s and Nagel’s concept of moral luck encounter more disagreement than being agreed since moral luck is not universally applicable in every situation. The existence of either motive or agent-regret will, in some cases, be enigma since they are private matter and unknown to the rest of us. Therefore, the case of moral luck has been yet remains unsolved due to its inconsistency. On the other hand, if motives and intentions (of being moral) are not counted and/or agent-regret does exist, it will be unfair to the person who is incorrectly treated since the result is actually out of their control. Thus, the moral luck is a sensitive matter and should be applied per case based on the presented facts. There is no such universal formula for relevance of moral luck in each situation.

A human has a strong desire to survive and ready to transgress his inner borders and break his principles to save his life. There are three aspects of survival: psychological, emotional and physical survival. They are all related to each other and in order to sustain one has to go through all three stages. A person has to struggle with themselves: they have to breakdown their internal principles such as high morality and deep religious commitment in order to come through Psychological, Emotional and Physical survival.

Living creatures of all species in their most natural state have one purpose: to survive. Humans are certainly no exception to this rule. However, human kind has a unique trait that acts as a means for survival even in the face of great adversity; the human spirit. Humans have a natural inclination to survive, but the higher component of human nature uses that inclination to help humans survive (whether it be emotionally, physically, or both) even the most tragic of situations. The finest example of this proclivity for survival can be seen in the literature from World Wars I and II. Much of the writing from this period exhibits narratives, both non-fiction and derivative, that demonstrate the human spirit’s desire and ability to survive in any conditions.
For most people, survival is just a matter of putting food on the table, making sure that the house payment is in on time, and remembering to put on that big winter coat. Prisoners in the holocaust did not have to worry about such things. Their food, cloths, and shelter were all provided for them. Unfortunately, there was never enough food, never sufficient shelter, and the cloths were never good enough.
