To follow a life of success, happiness, and fulfillment will always begin by observing ourselves, from finding inner peace, figuring out your purpose, and pursuing it through hard work with the passion to commit in to our goal that will shape up our life. Without persistence and hard work it is impossible to succeed. A life without direction could lead to a path of uncertainty and without contentment. Also a life without inner peace is a life without true happiness. Every success requires hard work. As Thomas Edison uttered, “I never did anything worth doing by accident, nor did any of my inventions come by accident, they came by work.” This is true; Thomas Edison and his team did not just come up with the light bulb at Menlo Park, they tried 1,500 materials to see which would burn the longest, but everything failed, it was with their hard work and persistence they finally found a material that burned for 200 hours, lighting up New York at the hours of darkness, eventually the whole world. The same as for what Martin Luther King and other civil rights activists did, with their passion to gain equality they put themselves out and fought for not only their rights but everyone else, protesting day by day even though they were treated with hostility, little by little the...

In addition to Rosa Parks, other American civil rights leaders were successful in using peaceful resistance to laws as a means to achieve equality for African Americans. For example, the sit-in movement led to the integration of many restaurants.
“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” Martin Luther King Junior once said. “Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” he said. Dr.King had a dream that one day he would “look to a day when people would not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” A point that has been disputed about the Civil Rights is using the “passive unless provoked" and the violent approach, but upon research, it seems clear that the Martin Luther King Junior’s approach to the civil rights movement was most effective, because he was a powerful yet inspirational leader.
People who cannot see the difference between a good, noble dream and an immoral dream that leads to nothing worth fighting for are in danger of living sad lives. Likewise, people who fail to strive for anything are in danger of living meaningless lives. Dreams can be both misconstrued and ignored completely. Both actions lead to inevitable misery. When looked at from an unbiased perspective, it seems that there is nearly no chance of winning in the game of life. Even though goals, dreams, and aspirations seem to be important components of success, without the worry of money and power, everything suddenly becomes simple. No one follows false grails and no one falls into misery. In the grand scheme of things, discovering the ultimate root of personal happiness and striving for it immediately solves the complications of life.
Over the course of this summer I read four books. The books I read were Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J K Rowling, The Giver by Lois Lowry, Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix, and Number the Stars by Lois Lowry again. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J K Rowling was the first book I read this summer and I really liked it. I decided to read the 5th Harry Potter book because I had it and I never really got a chance to read it. The book begins were it had left you of in the 4th book when Harry is just about to enter his 5th year at Hogwarts. He still lives with his aunt and uncle whom he hates because they are mean and evil to him. The letters from his friends are very dull and they have nothing to say, which confuses him and makes him furious. He is also mad because he’s still stuck with the Dursleys all summer long. The story goes with his adventures and challenges throughout his 5th year. The genre is fantasy complete with magic. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes the Harry Potter books. I would also recommend that if you have never read any of the previous books you start from the beginning. I can’t wait ‘till the next book comes out!
While going on a journey to be successful there are many up and downs that can create a stronger person or knock a person down. When a person keeps on fighting over and over without giving up he or she are described to be ambitious like Jane Golden who was mentioned in Purpose by Angela Duckworth. Continuing to go further and further a person will run into others who are in need of help, and the right thing to do is be caring like Louie Zamperini who is viewed as a hero in today’s world and in Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. Once reaching a stage in life that is comfortable a person will soon discovered happiness. Principal Ms.Short is starting find happiness at Solon High School. Because success is an accomplishment that is very complex through a long period, it is a mixture of
“As we walk, we must make a pledge that we shall always march ahead.”(MLK , I have a Dream Speech). Martin Luther King JR. was a remarkable man. He helped the community like no other did. He is a great character and role model towards all African Americans and others. He shows bravery, kindness, and has the eyes to make change happen. He was an inspiration to many less fortunate people than him, and people who had more than him. Do we have the bravery and courage that this man had? Do we have the eyes for change? MLK had something many didn’t. MLK made a change because something was bothering him in his community, he brought people together, was an inspiration to many because of his patience, and had a dream.
A small number of people throughout history have had the opportunity to influence a nation of people, change their lives, and be a true symbol hope. The legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has and will forevermore inspire how American society views equality. Dr. King was a religious leader and Civil-Rights activist in America when segregation was threatening the nation's stability. Looking back at King's life, it can be seen how he portrayed his goals for equality, enabled the country to rally against discrimination by becoming a martyr, and created a legacy for future generations of Americans to follow.
...mined man, Martin Luther King was by far the most influential person in American history. He was fearless and fought for equal rights through speeches, marches and protests. He knew that his strong attitude and opinion on civil rights would cause many people to dislike him, but he didn’t care and continued to fight for African American rights. He has affected my life as well as the life my future children will live. I don’t live in a world of segregation and I’m not treated any differently than a white person because of his braveness to speak out. I am allowed to eat in the same restaurants, use the same public water fountains and bathrooms, ride the same buses and go to the same schools as a white person. If it wasn’t for him, that might not have been possible. His actions showed that one person can impact the country with a lot of effort and a humble attitude.
Nevertheless, if one observes the actions of Martin Luther King Jr. and Cesar Chavez and compares them to the actions of other groups or individuals who have attempted to bring about social change, a simple conclusion can be reached. Nonviolent means of protest are the most effective way to bring about change, and also the best way to give others an understanding of why the change is necessary. In conclusion King wrote and spoke amazing words about freedom, equality, and justice his work along with others like him, have changed the United States, and has given people what he wanted the most dignity and respect.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to fighting for equality for African-Americans. He marched for miles, gave many speeches, and wrote literature such as “Letter From Birmingham Jail” all in the name of justice. He even paid the ultimate price of death for his perseverance and his unwillingness to simply give up. Many would say that things are far different today than from Dr. King’s days; however, with ongoing discrimination and modern day activism like Black Lives Matter and Justice or Else, one could infer that we have not truly progressed.
Summer reading is given to students every year. It is an assignment handed out which is to be completed by the time school starts next year. It is compiled of a list of books in which one must be chosen and read. The assignment also includes a project, usually one that requires time and effort that must be completed as well.
Although they received their rights, they went through some tough obstacles to obtain those rights. People did everything to prevent MLK Jr from achieving his American Dream, the people protested, sent threatening phone calls, set his home on fire and got stabbed by someone. “I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.(King Jr)” This quote describes the racism African Americans had. It shows there is an endless war of racism and no sign of peace believing in truth and unconditional love will show the pathway to peace. Martin Luther King Jr’s American Dream was to get rid of segregation and to achieve peace throughout the
The civil rights movement in the 1950s-1960s was a struggle for social justice for African Americans to gain equal rights. One activist who became the most recognizable spokesperson and leader in the civil rights movement was Martin Luther King Jr, a christian man dedicated to the ideas of nonviolence and civil disobedience. Although the Civil war had officially abolished slavery, blacks were still treated as less than human for many years after. Martin Luther King Jr has positively impacted the world with his peaceful protest approach to gaining social justice; but with the increase of hate crimes being committed, I believe individuals today need to pick up where King left
It takes courage to dedicate a life to trying to make a difference in a society where people believe their ways will never change. Martin Luther King was one of the very few national idols of social movement which used the power of voice and faith to motivate millions. In,”Letter from a Birmingham Jail [King, Jr.]” he addressed the clergymen about racial discrimination the country was facing and how we should find peace without resorting to violence. Through MLK’s use of Ethos,Pathos,Logos he was able to argue about the nonviolent resistance movement towards racism.
A person needs to achieve certain goals in one's life before you can call them successful. Success is to achieve goals, you have set. I have set certain goals I would like to achieve in my lifetime. Some of these goals are personal while others are professional. My professional goals in life are to find a good job that makes me happy, get a good education, find a job that makes enough money for me to support my family, and help people. Goals it is very important for me to receive a good education. Most job fields require a descent education. If I don't have an education I would not be able to function properly at the work place and I would not understand what to do. To maintain a good job that will make good money will require me to go thorough schooling or training and maybe even both. Education is the first and foremost way to become successful, because the job I will choose will need me go to school and maybe even beyond college. My happiness in what I do is also a goal for me I my life. There is no way someone can become successful if they are not happy with what they are doing. ...
