Introduction Balanced Life, Fitness and Nutrition is a personal fitness company based on personalized training and nutrition programs. They host one-on-one interviews with potential clients to determine the optimal training and food intake regimens that will help their clients towards their intended goals. This document is intended to serve as a basic summary of the Balanced Life, Fitness and Nutrition system to be developed by BREA Solutions. It is an extension and update of the previously submitted inception document. It will also serve as the basis for the initial development processes and will contain technical details associated with the new web application. Problem/Vision Statement BREA Solution’s vision is to create a website that will fulfill the needs of BLFN. It will include a more automated and user friendly subscription-based system. The current system in use is completely manual and limits the capability of trainers to only be able to serve a limited number of customers. Our understanding is that BLFN would like their new system to be automated and scalable in order to provide their services to multiple customers in many places at any given time. People who hold a stake in this new system include the trainers of BLFN as well as their customers. The trainers will have the ability to manipulate data and fitness/nutrition plans. Their customers will have the ability to access all of the services of the web site on a membership basis. There will be a single administrator with power over all data and services. Additional requirements that the client has requested include having a multi-lingual web site, video sharing and web hosting. Exercise and nutrition plans will be incremented after an automated, set period of time but may also be paused or reversed at the discretion of the members. There will also be services for administrative purposes which will help greatly in the upkeep and maintenance of the new web application. Basic CRUD (Create/Read/Update/Delete) functions will be available to an administrator account to allow easy modification of data and services offered by the system. Recommendation The next step necessary in this project is to begin the construction of the new system. There is still some minor planning and analysis to do, but basic database and interface design can be started right away. At this stage, it is very important that Balanced Life, Fitness and Nutrition voice any new requests or changes that need to be made.
Michael Pollan, an American author, journalist, activist, and professor of journalism at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism (Michael Pollan), writes in his book In Defense of Food, the dangers of nutritionism and how to escape the Western diet and subsequently most of the chronic diseases the diet imparts. In the chapter “Nutritionism Defined” Pollan defines the term nutritionism. Pollan’s main assertion being how the ideology of nutritionism defines food as the sum of its nutrients, and from this viewpoint Pollan goes on to write how nutritionism divides food into two categories, with each macronutrient divided against each other as either bad or good nutrients, in a bid for focus of our food fears and enthusiasms. Finally, Pollan concludes that with the relentless focus nutritionism places on nutrients and their interplay distinctions between foods become irrelevant and abandoned.
My fitness pal has been successfully in providing feedback for users to keep track of their calorie intake and fitness level. The app is very beneficial in behavior change for the user to record his or her food intake consumed and achieve weight loss. The app is definitely recommended for users who prefer to consume healthy foods and do exercise regularly to enhance a healthy lifestyle. A few years ago, my friend suffers from the cardiovascular disease and has tried several diets to help lose weight, but did not achieve a better outcome. She wanted to consult a nutritionist who can give tips on meal planning and exercising. She told her nutritionist that is ready to take 30-day workout challenge. During the action phase, she started participating in an exercise program while using the app. She does regularly exercise at least 3-4 times a week and keep track to see how many calories burned. After doing a 30-day workout, my friend (user) has lost ten pounds, which made her feel confident and energized. The app has motivated her to make smart healthy foods and continue fitness journey

The purpose of writing this paper is to discuss the pros and cons of my diet. The nutritional analysis have thought me that my choices are not terrible but they are not the beast. However, a healthy lifestyle is necessary if I want to enjoy this life without health complications. Always Including some form of vegetable, fruits, and carbohydrates in my diet is ideal. However, that may not be on a regular basis and the portion might be too small to make a difference or too much to cause harm. I have learned how many grams of fat, saturated fat and protein should be consumed per day by my body.

I was tired of being overweight, feeling tired all the time, and I wanted to get my confidence back, I knew in order to do that I would have to make a lifestyle change. I had no prior knowledge of health and nutrition, so I wanted to increase my knowledge of the basic areas of health and wellness to implement in my daily lifestyle. Learning about what the different nutrients do for the human body have motivated Susanne to incorporate those nutrients into her diet. Susanne used to be someone that chose food to lose weight. Creating an individual health and wellness plan helps you plan for your future of creating and /or maintaining a positive, safe lifestyle by addressing underlying issues. “No matter how hard we try and no matter what skills we bring to bear, some problems remain out of our control. When this is the case, we can tell the truth: ‘It’s too big and too mean. I can’t handle it.’ In that moment, we take a step toward greater health” (Ellis, 2015, p. 320). Problems and their solutions within a health plan can be evaluated through five different categories: Diet, Exercise, Rest, Safety, and Health Support. Today we will discuss how I was personally affected in each of those areas and how I plan to implement a solution.
Throughout this position paper there are some key recommendations made by The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics about how to improve the diets and nutritional status by specifically using the total diet approach.1 One key recommendation is that nutrition messages tend to be more effective when they are focused on positive ways to make changes overtime, opposed to listing specific foods that are to be avoided completely.1 Foods should also not be labeled “good” or “bad” because it can result in negative attitudes and poor judgments.1 Instead of having people cut certain foods out of their diets completely it is more effective to teach the concepts of moderation and proportionality.1 This position paper also mentions programs that already support the total diet approach such as MyPlate, the White House’s Let’s Move campaign, Nutrition Facts labels, nutrients intake recommendations, and Healthy People
Keeping track of what I ate for three days forced me to be held accountable. Few people realize just what they eat on a daily basis. Seeing the food log and the analysis helped me have a better understanding of what I put into my body and what my body needs on a daily basis as far as energy and nutrients. The analysis gave a summary for calories, food groups, and nutrients, both macro and micronutrients.
For this paper I decided to take a second and evaluate my life and think about what were some of my current lifestyle habits and behaviors and which out of these habits would I like to change. After sitting down and evaluating all of my main habits I categorized them into groups of which ones were helping to lead me to a long healthy lifestyle and which ones were likely to lead me to an unhealthy life and lifestyle. After narrowing these unhealthy habits down to my top three I decided to focus this paper and my attention on my current nutrition and most of all on my negative eating habits. After evaluating my lifestyle and all of my unhealthy habits I felt that my current nutrition level and eating patterns were in need of the most improvement and change.
Since we have been learning about nutrition in class, our task was to record a food log. Nutrition requires a well-balanced diet containing nutrient and vitamins like amino acids and fatty acids. Over the past seven days I have been recording and have been looking very carefully at my intake of nutrients, minerals, vitamins, and fats. In our task, the objective was to record the basic foods we ate during the period of seven, but it did not require recording every single detail or our intake of food. Doing this food log was a pain and it was disturbing because I never wrote about what I ate like breakfast, lunch, dinner, or additional meals. I found this food log useful because it helped me learn what I can change in my intake of foods to make my diet healthy and to see what about my diet is affecting me from being healthy because I could affect me in the future.
A person should eat healthy and nutritiously balanced diet to maintain a good health. He should has such a diet in which he can get all the important nutrients and vitamins that are essential for overall growth and development. He should also take care of an amount of calories and servings that he takes on daily basis to ensure a good health. I recorded my food intake for two consecutive days and compared it with Canada’s Food Guide in order to know where I need to make improvements for a good health.
Nutrition is an important key to learn and understand in your life while you get older. Many people do not know the proper diet and exercise to keep their body healthy and strong. Throughout this course, I have learned information on different kinds of vitamins, carbohydrates, amino acids and other helpful diets. After reading and logging my dietary log for a week it has helped me re-organize my diet and health. I have learned about how to personally manage my exercise and diet and I am seeing some good results because of what I learned from this class. I started to see what I was missing in my diet and started to know what quantity and quality was for your diet. I also took a leap into my family health history to see what I need to change
Proper nutrition is one of the most essential elements to being healthy and living a long life. People deal with food every day, and food has been a part of life since the beginning of civilization. What we eat becomes our diet, and our diet plays a major role in deciding how healthy we are and how well our body functions. Without proper diet, our body cannot carry out the functions it needs to perform. Most people have some common knowledge on what is good and what is bad for the human body to consume. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains are some common items people think of when they think of healthy foods. However, it is not enough just to know what foods are good for your body, it is also important to understand why certain foods are good for you and what they do to help the body function.
