For the Third Quarter SSR Project I chose the book Both Sides Of Time by Caroline B. Cooney. I settled on this fiction book not only because I’ve read all three books in Cooney’s series Time Travelers Quartet, but it just so happens to be my favorite out of all of them. This book is gripping to me because of the events happening in the book. A hopeless romantic going back in time, involved in two love triangles in two different centuries, then forced to leave one that she loves either way. I relish reading any kind of love stories, but I especially enjoyed this one because of the twisted storylines.
This book starts off simple in the beginning then surely escalates. Annie Lockwood, the main character is a typical teenage girl who just got out of school for the summer. Her boyfriend Sean isn't the romantic type at all. As she goes to Stratton Point where Sean is, to tell him that the party at the beach for the beginning of summer will start soon and she wanted him there with her. While he was working on a car, she walks into the old Stratton Mansion and looks around and all of a sudden she feels a falling feeling, like an earthquake almost, and then it was like only half of her was there. She could hear playing music, she even saw sun coming through the windows, and then bumped into someone. It was Hiram Stratton, Jr.. When he approaches her, she’s frightened, then Annie runs out of the house, and gets onto her bicycle and rides away. Finally, Strat was able to catch up with Annie and they went to the beach and sat there. That was where Annie had learned what year it was and they learned each other's names. Harriet Ranleigh was in the mansion in a tower, spying on Anna Sophia and Strat. She was angry and jealous when she saw the ...

...y is on the beach which is how the setting is in the book. The book describes Stratton Point like an educated town thats honestly beautiful. Nice, France is a beyond gorgeous city and well educated.
My overall opinion of this book was outstanding. The book was very detailed that I could almost picture the events happening in my head. I felt for Annie though, she had many tough decisions to make throughout the book. Especially telling her mother that her dad had been cheating on her and bad boy Sean not be there for her or show affection towards her. This book should actually be made into a movie. It has the potential to be made into an interesting one because of all the twisted events occurring throughout the story. Who doesn’t like a romantic yet mysterious time-traveling adventure? The director just needs the right people to put into it and they’d be all set.
