Synopsis In West Warwick Rhode Island, on February 20th, 2003, during the performance of the band Great White, a fire broke out that eventually claimed the lives of 100 people and injured an additional 200. The band’s tour manager arranged for, and ignited pyrotechnic props, large fireworks designed to display a shower of sparks. The sparks ignited foam soundproofing near stage. The fire spread quickly. Most were killed either in the crush to exit the building or overcome by fumes while trying to find an exit. The immediate cause was well documented due to witness reports and a videotape that was taken during the concert. In the period that followed the tragedy there were many attempts to fix blame. Following a Grand Jury investigation, several of the parties involved plead guilty to violations of the law and served or are currently sentences in prison. The Station The Station was a single story wood frame building of approximately 4500 square feet.. It was originally built in 1946 as a club for local military personnel who were on leave. Over the years it served as a variety of restaurants, bars and nightclubs. In 1972, a fire damaged the building and reopened in 1974. In 1991 it was converted into its final incarnation as a bar and showroom. The building was arranged with the bar, kitchen, dart room along with offices and storage on the east end of the building. The showroom and sunroom area comprised the west. There were four exits. The front door was only accessible through a corridor partially occluded by a small ticket booth and another 36 inch wide doorway in the middle of the corridor. The fire lasted only 12-14 minutes and killed 492 and injured 164, the reason for this is the building construction, occupancy, and interior design of the club. For better understanding the structure will be described in great detail.

The Armenian genocide ruins Vahan Kenderian’s picture-perfect life. Vahan is the son of the richest Armenian in Turkey and before the war begins, he always has food in his belly and a roof over his head in the book Forgotten Fire by Adam Bagdasarian. Life is absolutely quintessential for Vahan, until the war starts in 1915, when he endures many deaths of his family, losses of his friends, and frightening experiences in a short amount of time. He is a prisoner of war early in the book and is starved for days. As he goes through life, he is very unlucky and experiences other deaths, not just the deaths of his family. Vahan ultimately becomes the man his family would want him to be.

On April 17, 2013, the community of West, Texas, suffered a devastating and heartbreaking event in the evening hours. After a fire broke out inside the West Fertilizer plant, a massive explosion leveled the facility, caused millions of dollars in damage to surrounding buildings, and took the lives of over a dozen people. Sadly, the majority of those killed were volunteer firefighters who had responded to the fire and were unable to retreat to a safe distance before the explosion. Nearly 200 injuries were also reported to have been treated at local hospitals (Wood, 2013). The explosion was said to be caused by the combination of the fire and large stores of ammonium nitrate fertilizer at the plant.

Conservation & Preservation of Historic Buildings BSV 09101 1.0 Introduction The Kelvingrove Bandstand and Amphitheatre is a Catergory B listed bandstand situated in Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow. Part of the Arts & Crafts movement in design style it is a rare example of a covered bandstand which faces an elliptical amphitheatre. It is the only instance of this style which remains in Scotland today. Operational from 1925 until 1999, the building closed due to its continued deterioration, security as well as the health and safety risks it posed.
One on the 1st floor and three on the 2nd floor. The security personnel are as friendly as can be and I like where they have security placed in the building. While inside the courthouse I thought that the whole building could use some major updating. You can tell that the courthouse is outdated and not well kept with the interior of the building. While I was inside the courthouse I felt a very heavy feeling. I knew just by looking around and looking at others, that a lot has taken place inside that courthouse. Some of what has gone on does not have the happiest of endings. There are families that are finally getting justice, children committing crimes as adults. Etc... There are old brown benches to sit on, which of course are not very comfortable. I actually saw a few rats the short time I was in there. As I walked around the interior of the courthouse I saw a lot of lawyers that were there for court cases. A lot of them conducting business with their clients while sitting down on the benches in the hallways. I only visited a few floors while I was there. We play music loudly with our friends and families at social gatherings and ultimately it creates a friendly and open atmosphere. Now the last thing we would think about would be that at one of these social events one of us may die. In recent years there have been more and more deaths and injuries at musical festivals all throughout the United States. Although the number is much lower than deaths and injuries from automotive accidents they should not be over looked. Music festivals are becoming more and more popular and people are flocking to festivals all around the United States. These music festivals in today’s society have turned into drug infested parties in which people’s live are endangered and people themselves are exposed to drugs and unsafe festival conditions.
People were leaving the concert when a massive explosion occurred in the foyer leading to Victoria station around 10.35 pm. According to the Independent, over 200 calls were made to emergency services. A mass panic happened instantly, many people were hurt and 22 people tragically lost their lives. The Manchester police caught the perpetrator who went on a suicide mission. However, the organization behind the horrible act was the well known extremist group ISIS.
The structure is built with many windows and light coloured flooring and wall paint throughout the whole airport. In my opinion, this is to create an illusion of a larger space. Since people frequent the airport regularly and there are always crowds of people at the airport, the design of the facility will tend to play with people’s moods. The light neutral colours keep people calm and relaxed in such settings. There are also clocks everywhere to allow those travelling to be aware of their travel time to catch their flight, as well as those picking up arriving travelers to keep track of the time depending on the arrival.
