STATEMENT OF PURPOSE I have always believed to set a goal, focused on it, achieve the goal and then again set another goal to achieve that. With the work experience of two years that has imparted the basic skills and knowledge of the professional field; I would like to put my next step to achieve my goal by pursuing Master degree in Computer Science. I have done my schooling from ST.JOSEPH’S HIGH SCHOOL which was one of the best Christian Minority institutions located at Kothagudem, Andhra Pradesh, India .I was strongly motivated to pass my tenth class exams with over 77 percent marks. During my early ages in school, I was introduced to MS Office and basic language on how the computers can be used and programmed. After I entered the high school, I was made known with languages like ‘C’ and HTML on my personal interest. During my schooling I even participated in many extracurricular activities specially in football. which fetched me to become captain and represent my team in South Zone National Foot Ball Tournament from my university After successful completion of school studies I got admitted to krishnaveni junior college, which is one of the most reputed colleges in Andhra Pradesh. I obtained over 75 % marks in the plus two exams. Computer Science is a further step to mankind. After completing my under graduate study in Biotechnology Engineering, I worked in a One small Government Social Organization where I got chance to hone my mind in the computers field. Working as a System Admin mainly in the database field i have maintaining the Data of Organization my main assignments were to handle the information in a systematic and secure way. Values ongoing learning and growth in the field. Mentors are in a position to illustrate how the field is growing and changing and that even after many years there are still new things to learn. Anyone that feels stagnant in their current position will not make a good mentor. When starting out in a new career, people want to feel that the time and energy they spend learning will be rewarded and will ultimately provide them with career satisfaction. Good mentors are committed and are open to experimenting and learning practices that are new to the field.
“Everyone thought you guys could not finish it, but you proved them wrong!” our supervisor said with pride after we demonstrated the term project for Object Oriented Programming Language Course. We chose to implement “Video Conferencing on Local Area Network”, while others thought it to be a preposterous choice for two first year students. It was the strongest feeling of achievement I felt that day, which only comes from overcoming a challenge with diligence and hard work. I relived the same feeling for numerous occasions throughout my undergraduate and professional career which justified my decision to take Computer Science as my career path. I am writing this essay to prove my eligibility as a PhD student in Computer Science. I will try to describe my academic background, professional experience, research interest and finally my reasons for choosing to do PhD in Database and Data mining related fields in the next few paragraphs.
“Constant efforts, dedication, devotion and determination are the key to success” This principle I have followed in my career. Setting goals and striving hard to accomplish them has always been my strength in professional as well as personal life. I have always been amazed by computers, code –programs and was keen to understand the underlying meaning, gimmick, structure and pattern of how programs actually work. Learning about simple Foxpro programs, excel sheet formulae, C programs at an early age heightened my interest in computer programs. This childhood interest urged me to do a diploma in information technology and later bachelor’s degree in the same area. Having completed six years course in Information Technology, and two years of experience in IT. I stand by the principal “Stay Hungry” and this has helped me in achieving my goals. Standing by this I would like to explore ahead and pursue MS in MIS. I would like emerge to put to use this knowledge to pursue MS program in MIS.
Due to the same affinity towards Mathematics, Science and research in general, I have opted for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as my major subjects in high school (XII th standard), where I have scored the top marks with 91%. I took up Computer Science and Engineering as my discipline in Bhoj Reddy Engineering College for Women affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, one of the premier institutes in India. My undergraduate education has been a great learning and enriching process for me. It exposed me to all the core areas of Computer Science like operating systems, database management systems, networks and network security, data structures, algorithms and software engineering. These courses have given me a good foundation in the core concepts. My interest lies in Database Management, Programming Languages, Theory of Computation, and Software Engineering. I am fully acquainted with the fast growing subjects like Object Oriented Programming, Analysis and Design. On the other hand, the intensive laboratory classes exposed me to a fascinating world of experimentation. It was here that I discovered the qualities of perseverance and diligence in myself. I feel that these courses have done a lot to prepare me for my future studies and research work.
On joining the college, I concentrated on acquiring knowledge not only through the classroom teaching materials, but also through the volumes of Computer related materials. In the process I have acquired in-depth knowledge in the fields of Database Management Systems, Data Mining and Data Warehousing, Software Engineering especially in the concepts related to process organization and responsibilities. I was also fascinated by the growth of Networking and Communication Technology and developed keen interest in the subjects such as Computer Networks, Data Communications and Network Protocols. The Operating systems lab and Computer Networks lab unleashed a relentless desire in me to excel at its usage and find innovative applications.
My interest in Computers dates back to early days of my high school. The field of CS has always fascinated me. The reason for choosing CS stream was not a hasty decision. My interest started developing in the early stage of my life, when I studied about the invention of computers. The transformation from the large size to small palmtops enticed me to know about the factors responsible for making computers, also the electronic gadgets so small.
Computers and Technology have fascinated me right from my childhood and I have always had it in my mind to choose Information Technology for my engineering. As the years passed my eagerness grew and so did my thirst to attain higher education and now is the perfect time for me to ignite the spark in me. This has given me the courage to analyze the fact that I have a herculean task ahead in order to comprehend an extensive proportion of subject and enjoy it while assimilating the problems.
Computer information system makes a system in the organizations. It is frequently termed as Information Technology. It also allows the organizations to identify how to improve the organizational system as well as promote the necessary system skills that encourage us. It is the best method to acquire knowledge of technology that I collected from several career paths. Those career paths which I continued for taking computer information systems. Design systems solutions for maintaining the organizational competence. Moreover, I chose this as my major that fits with my abilities. My proclivity is more specifically towards Business Analytics and data science. I see an MS program in the USA as a crucial step towards achieving my career objective because not only it is the birthplace of my chosen field of study but also it has nurtured it for its full growth and continuous development.
