The 21st Century Elections United States of America has been the country that was always seen as a powerful and strong by other countries. Our nation that was perceived before as a symbol of modernity and as a sign of example to follow was soon to change throughout the years and demonstrated on the elections of 2000 and 2004 where our nation set in stone the failure to maintain a quality on its political life as well as its elections. The political effect of the 2000 and 2004 elections had on the 2008 Election was very significant, there was an increase with the young voters comparing to the two elections before, Obama was able to connect with a younger group of people utilizing the network, there was a diversity of cultures that was sympathizing with Obama, and the quality of the elections were focus on people who was needing the most. The role of the media plays an important part on the elections, for the 2000 election and 2004 elections the media had a very controversial results and they were forced to rely on the Voter News Services which was an organization administered with the Associated Press (Carter & Marks, 2009). The effects of third parties on the outcome on the process of the election of 2000 were contributed mainly by Ralph Nadar who decided to run for President under the Green Party focalizing towards the individual and not towards corporate greed and corruption. Even though the Green party’s ideals were honest, however, they were aligned more with the Democrat party. The role of special interest groups in the process of a campaign for either presidential elections or others has an impact on the voters as well as their influence in many ways.
