Sports Radio Broadcasting
Did you know that radio waves travel at 189,000 miles per second? Throughout its long life career, radio has always had a close relationship with sports. Today sports radio continues to be an important media in the athletic culture. Even with the giant, which is sports itself today, sports radio is still one of the most popular, reliable and convenient ways to listen to live games, hear scores, or even listen to sports talk shows. This paper will cover three big subjects that relate to sports radio and just radio itself. These subjects are history of radio, evolution of radio, and last but not least the future of the radio.
The radio was the first invention to allow mass communication to different parts of the world. It enabled information to be transferred thousands of miles. The development of the radio began in 1893 with Nikolai Tesla’s demonstration of wireless radio communication in St. Louis, Missouri. Nikolai Tesla’s work set the foundation for later scientists who worked to perfect the radio we now use in our daily lives. The man most associated with the invention of the radio is an Italian man named Guglielmo Marconi, who in 1986 was awarded the official patent for the radio by the British Government. The reason Marconi is most know for the invention of the radio is because he was the first to broadcast a transmission, which he did in 1899 and it was a mile long. Thanks to these great inventors and their brilliant minds we can now listen to sports nearly anywhere and everywhere we are in the world, due to the radio.
Sports radio has the richest history of all of sports media and also is the oldest in that category. Sports radio has many memorable moments throughout its long lasting career but...

... biggest advancements in the radio business probably has to be the making of HD radio because it is one of the best things to happen to radio since the making of the FM stereo and the FM stereo was a huge hit. HD radio gives us amazing sound quality, and way more programming options than ever before (National….). All of this things listed above all contributed to the evolution of the radio and without them the radio we know today would not be half as good, but behind the curtains is a committee who really helped the wheels turn on nearly every one of those things listed above, and that committee is the National Radio Systems Committee or NRSC. The NRSC sole purpose is to study and make recommendations for technical standards that have something to do with radio broadcasting and the reception of radio broadcast signals (National….).
