As human beings grow up we begin to develop interests in certain things. Hobbies are a big part of our lives, it normally is a past time that allows us to unwind and relax, forget about our everyday problems. It gives us something to enjoy doing. Hobbies can range from many different activities, whether it is knitting, reading a book, surfing, running, shopping, painting and so forth. There are so many different types of activities that one can do. These hobbies are usually done on a casual basis; there is no obligation to do them. However one hobby that is not taken lightly is the love of Spanish futbol. Now this is a hobby that is taken very seriously, we are talking about a sport that can be compared to a religion that is how closely people follow the games. Now some people may find this a bit weird that people take Spanish futbol so seriously. To some Spanish futbol is just a game, you win some you lose some. But to the fans futbol is a way of life, some people eat, breath, and dream futbol. People are willing to miss Sunday service to go watch a game, and it is something that the whole family enjoys doing. But why is there such a massive phenomenon with futbol, especially in Spain? This is not to say that only the people of Spain are the most dedicated “futbolistas”, but they are pretty intense about their love of soccer. A question that definitely comes to mind that fuels the idea of passion is the rivalries between F.C. Barcelona and Real Madrid. In terms of culture, many have heard the term “melting pot” used to describe the United States. The reason the United States fits the description of such a term is simply because its colonization was fairly recent, and it was therefore an immigration destination for people from many nations. In other words, a melting pot is classified by diversity, and thus, countries other than the United States with young histories fit the description as well. From the United States to Hispanic countries like Spain, the countries share their love for the same sports even though they are oceans apart. While they have their similar interests, sports interests differ in each of the countries as well. Without sports in the world, our cultures we know and love would be completely different and dull. They help shape our cultures and the people within them. Sports like soccer, football, and baseball are sports that we know and love in Hispanic and American countries. We all know what they are, but the way they are played, their histories, and our passions for these sports differ and correspond.

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world and officiating allows me to share a connection with billions of people that hold this game in such high esteem. With youth soccer as a raging phenomenon and the steady increase of success in the men’s, and women’s national teams, soccer in the United States is steadily growing. The American people are aching for a higher standing in the soccer world and Major League Soccer is planning on providing by increasing the amount of clubs and providing a more socially dominating presence for the game in the American society. The sport is undoubtedly the most powerful social gathering point modern society has to offer, and with it’s soon to be strong American presence, it will strengthen foreign affairs and create a unifying hobby throughout the American people. Not only will the expansion and popularity gather all society to one global love of the game, but it will help to unify some of the broken pieces of modern society.

All of these cultures brought a particular type of food and combined and blended with the food that exists there today. Spain is very popular for olives, vineyards, and citrus fruit. Another well-liked food is garlic, including varieties of peppers and spices. Once spice specifically—golden saffron—is essential in many recipes, including the Spanish Paella. There are many distinguished Spanish foods that encompass the daily life and culture of the country.
