Space: Intriguing and Beneficial

Have you ever seen a cartoon or show on TV about space and thought, “That is foolish”? The human imagination of space exploration is intriguing. Some may use that silly cartoon as inspiration and pursue a career involving space. Once the imagination is put into action, many beneficial products and technologies can and have come into existence that will and have change how we live and see space. To some, space exploration is inconsequential as if it will lead nowhere in life. However, space exploration is beneficial for its technological advances due to the imagination sparked from it, the desire for more knowledge about it and the pursuit of space exploration in itself. Space exploration has sparked the imagination of many; spawning cartoons, television series/movies, and books about space. Cartoons, TV shows/movies, and books in a fictional sense are often quite absurd however, very entertaining. According to Anderson (2013), “Bebop [is] the coolest spaceship.” Anderson (2013) has comprised a list of the best cartoons, stating that Cowboy Bebop as number one. There is also an ongoing survey of sci-fi enthusiasts of the all time best TV shows and books located at www.scifilists.sffjazz.com. On this site, at the time this paper was written, the number one TV show was Star Trek – The Next Generation and Dune by Frank Hurbert as the number one book. These lists are a small window into the depth of the imagination as well as its supporters. If not for imagination, many of the cartoons, TV shows, and books many have come to love would have never existed. With a TV station, The Sci-Fi Channel, solely devoted to not only space but also other sci-fi areas as proof of the great imagination of humanity.
