The Code of Ethics is the professional conduct that governs the profession of Social Work. Each candidate that is licensed by the Board must adhere to these conducts whether or not they are providing services on the telephone, in person and electronically. The Code of Ethics provides guidelines that protect the client, colleagues, and themselves to prevent any unethical standards.
One of the conducts that the Code of Ethics refers to is that as social worker we have an ethical responsibility to the client we serve. As a Social Work, we come in contact with clients that have an overabundance of social issues that can range from homelessness, abuse, mental health issues, and medical issues (which can included: prescriptions, health insurance, and a primary doctor). It is imperative that we as social worker to have proper communication regarding services that impact the clients day-to-day life.
