There has always been a controversy as to whether social media is changing family relationships. Because of the increase in technology use and social media, they have become more at risk. Although social media is a great way to help people know what is going on in the world, provide ways to get to know people without facing them, and stay connected with distant family, it can lead to obstacles, such as the lack of attention to family, connecting to social media can cause a tragedy, and it can damage reputations.

Becoming aware of what is going on around the world in gradually getting easier with the advanced technology we now have. Reading news or currents events consists of political arguments, weather climate, death notices, entertainment, etc. imagine not being able to know what is going on with the weather around the world, or even in the next state. You may be unaware of the tsunami creating in the body of water surrounding Hawaii and take your vacation right before it arrives. But with the use of your cellular device you will be prepared and can reschedule your trip.

...elationships. Minimizing the use of technology and its social media will not kill you. It is simply going to save you from ruining a healthy relationship with family. One citizen can start the change for families, but it is clearly up to the community to realize what they have before it is all gone. Family will always be there, but can a communication device do the same a human being can? Make a difference. Think about it.

Great deals of people have lost their innate characteristics, case in point the urge to talk to people in public when they need information about something. Copious amounts of people cannot say hi to each other in real life for the sake of feeling strange and prefer to avoid confrontation by saying what they need through their phone. Babies can say hi to us and we will smile, but when adults say hi to each other they look away puzzled. Great amounts of people have lost the image of the old fashioned lifestyle along with the beauty of it. Several don’t admire the free things in life and take for granted the most important things in life. A majority of people cannot look up at the sky instead of their phones and be glad they are alive. The world’s youth is now distracted and trapped by the fascination of how easily they can feel included with society as a result of easy communications with having a cell phone. Kids would rather be on their phones playing games or posting up statuses on their social network for the reason that that’s what society was doing. No body wants to go outside and make friends when they have plenty online. People are not compelled go to the store to buy things anymore; they can just purchase it on their phone and have it delivered in a short amount of time. I’m not sure if people are choosing to ignore or if they are absolutely now blind to the fact that these actions are harming our future. I cannot deny that cell phones have given us extra privileges, but we should not rely on them to make us further human. I myself access social networks through my phone but I haven’t forgotten that when my phone dies, my life still continues. People forget that they have a life outside of their mobile device. Countless now find it strange if someone doesn’t have a phone, kids in elementary school now have
Our modern day society depends on technology for everything, can anyone imagine a life without their phone or computer? Probably not, social media and other popular applications have become so ingrained into our daily lives. Not only can we connect with people anytime throughout the day but we also have so many useful applications that help us on a daily basis. Thinking back to when I was eight years old, I couldn 't wait for sixth grade because my parents had promised to get me a cell phone, I remember counting down the days till the summer of fifth grade was over because I already knew which cell phone I wanted. Once I got it I couldn’t stop showing my mom all of the cool things it could do. Which looking back at it today, it really couldn
Unfortunately, children are being exposed the most on social media and are oblivious to it. From the moment children are born into the world of technology, their lives are being shared on social media. In Nancy Jo Sales’ book, American Girls: Social Media and the Secret Lives of Teenagers, she went around the country conducting interviews, researching the impacts of social media, and observing different social situations. According to many studies done by internet security firms, thousands of pictures of a child will be posted of them by age five.
Social media has changed the way people communicate with each other and in turn, has affected our ability to empathize in both negative and positive ways. One of the most harmful consequences is the rise of cyber-bullying. Another negative issue has been the trend of trolling in comments sections of websites, chat rooms, and other online venues of communication. In spite of this, there have been constructive consequences due to social media such as the ability for family and friends to keep in touch on a regular basis. Because of social media, many people are finding support and resources to help them when they fall on hard times or experience tragedies like death and illness. Overall, social media is an exciting new world that changes as it grows and it will be up to society to utilize it for good.
Social media is so popular that according to a recent article published by forbes.com, “72% of American adults are currently using social media sites; that figure has gone up 800% in just 8 years”(Olenski). Social networking was originally created to simply reconnect people with old high school pals, but in recent years it has evolved into a completely different operation. When social media first originated it was also intended for adult usage, which has in recent years expanded into the usage of all ages. Social media can create a negative affect on lives because it has been proven to be a dangerous addiction, for it takes away interpersonal relationships that are essential in life, and it has been proven to prevent people from being productive in life.
Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are only a few of the most common words used in today’s language among children, teens and adults. Such words can be described as popular terms related to what many of us know as social media. In today’s culture, many teenagers rely so heavily on the usage of social media that issues once thought to be revolutionary are now taking place offline and online. In fact, several cases of mental addictions, depression and even suicide have all stemmed from the initial usage of sites such as Facebook, which are otherwise socially accepted as a simple means of communicating with “friends.” While social media does have its advantages, it can also be held responsible for several negative events in the lives of today’s teenagers.

You can access Twitter, Facebook, and other social Medias at the touch of a finger. There are some positive influences that social networking has to offer; people can develop “life-long relationships” as well as becoming more cyber social which could possibly break the fear barrier for introverted individuals (Taylor). For others, it seems we have made social networking have higher importance in our everyday lives. We wake up in the morning and the first thing we do is check our Twitter or Facebook. Relying on these social networks to keep our lives balanced has become more of a nuisance than a solution to our social problems. The more we use these social media every day, the more we continue to render ourselves helpless to facing the harsh reality of the real world that we live in.
We live in a world that has become addicted and dedicated toward social media and it is driving America’s youth into the ground. Teenagers and adults are so wrapped up in social media that is runs their lives every day. Constantly people are checking their phones for the latest on social networks. They have to see pictures, tweets, statuses, comments, likes, and the list goes on and on. Social media is becoming the focus point in the modern American society that it is beginning to control people’s social skills, communication skills, and their livelihood.
The correlation between the development of youth and social media has become blatant. Although few of the consequences are favorable, the majority have displayed a negative impact. The drive social media can implement on youth is exceptional. The pressure and strain social media can place on our youth is an enduring force which leads individuals to question themselves as a person and feel inclined to fit a norm expressed in media and social media of our society. The underlying force social media can play in the lives of the youth is astonishing and is a force that must be dealt with and controlled, for it not only holds the power to give an individual strength, but also to break them down.
Parents nowadays don’t spend as much time with their kids as they used to. One of the main causes that family relationships are becoming weaker and weaker is the growth of technology. Things like Tweeter, Facebook, and Instagram by some teenagers’ definition is a place where they can express themselves. But they give up to much information at times and create arguments within the family and sooner or later destroy the trust within the relationship.
Social media is used by many people, young and old around the world as a way to communicate. Our lives have become so busy that it is difficult to maintain family and social relationships. “They use social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. On these sites users create profiles, communicate with friends and strangers, do research and share thoughts, photos, music, links and more” (Social Networking). With the use of social media you can be friends with all sorts of people without actually seeing or knowing them. “In many ways, social communities are the virtual equivalent of meeting at the general store or at church socials to exchange news and get updated on friends and families” (Cosmato).
Even though people have different opinions on whether social media has a positive or negative impact on society, it can be said that social media has a positive effect on society as a whole because it lets people communicate with each other easily, it has been said to improve education among children, and has helped improve the economy in the world. One of the main reasons why social media has positively affected our society is because of how it has made communicating with people much easier. “Today, four out of five active internet users maintain at least one social media profile” (Moe, 3). Using these websites, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and etc., people talk about everything with anyone from what they are planning to do, to what they are eating and much more (Moe, 24). We can also send private messages to other users of these websites about personal matters that you just want to discuss with them.
In the twenty -first century, teenagers live in a life of social networking and life’s online. It’s hard to believe how much the world has changed over the decades, especially in technology. Technology helps people to contact relatives and friends from long distance more easily and conveniently. People can now talk to each other from everywhere in the world simply through chat and video calls. By time, internet connections have spread throughout households and social networking such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram has increased gradually. However, the internet and several modern technologies have wasted many times and has hurt the society. Social media plays such a big role in people’s lives that some people couldn’t even imagine
Furthermore, social media can have various impact on our life, a major, impact can be seen on couples relationship, for instance, focus on social media can lead to less communications and interaction between couples and after a while they become detached to each other due to neglect and lack of interest to one another. Another impact of social media can also be seen on religious beliefs and practices, for example, addiction to internet can eventually stop teenagers from attending their ritual and religious events where they participate in groups with other believers and gain more insight about their
