You are now chatting with a random person! Say hello!
The epitome of my boredom has brought me to this website, since my hours and hours of fixing Wikipedia pages could only go so far until I begun to alter them again for fun. Whoever this person is, oh I hope it’s a person, has a small icon pop up informing me that they’re typing. What do I say? Starting these conversations has become a mundane task – one that has over time taught me that I should just not be the first to start it. I open another tab, and search idly for a Wiki page that needs some editing. Whoever this person is, they sure take a while to compose their message.
Abraham Benisch seems interesting, I ponder, so I waste a few seconds briefly scanning the first few hundred articles about him to learn more. After learning how and what he studied in medicine, I open his Wiki page and begin to edit and correct the small bit of information there is. The chat site informs me that the person has finally messaged me.
Buddy: heyyyyyyyy
Buddy: asl?
Age/Sex/Location. The first time someone sent that to me, it took a few miscommunications and web searches to understand, fully, what that meant to people. Usually I take a minute to compose a new persona – someone interesting in Indonesia, maybe. I’ll look up popular first names and last names if I need it, and I’ll google some random groupings of cities to say I live in.
But I’ve done that thousands of times on hundreds of sites. Sure, it used to be fun, back when my main entertainment was hacking security codes just to see if I could. Now it was just kind of a droning task, and I usually stick to the same persona now. Ally. It’s simple and easy to believe.
You: 16/female/australia
You: you?
To be frank, I don’t anticipate this...
... middle of paper ...
...lly my name
Not even her real name. I have a little over twenty tabs open, and maybe three conversations at different sites with different people. The webcam is on, and I’m watching my small hiccup of a body be messed around with so that, maybe, months from now I can finally wear it. Maybe.
I exit all the tabs but one, and leave the webcam on.
You: im not even human
You: im just a program
You: i don’t even have a name or eyes. i use cameras to see and microphones to hear but its useless when i can just search online and do stuff there

You: do you believe me?
There’s a few seconds delay.
Buddy: um

In 1984, there are screens that watch and listen to everything you do.The resemblance between TVs of today and the telescreens of George Orwell’s story is that they are bi-directional, meaning they sent and received images and sound. They also couldn’t be shut off. “The instrument (then telescreen, it was called) could be dimmed, but there was no way of shutting it off.” (6) Today, TVs don’t spy on people, but computers and game consoles do. Every laptop and computer monitors have a built-in webcam. The game console called Xbox has a webcam for the Xbox , Kinect, that sensors movement and sound. 3D TVs may keep track of where your eyes are looking a...
In order to be diplomatic I will only focus my attention on the skills or qualities that each person can offer. What I immediately note about Mr. Newton is that he is young, healthy and has medical knowledge that under the current circumstances will be useful to the group and possibly other survivors that they may e...
Over the decades and centuries many honorable people have come and gone. Their actions have shaped the world we know today. Examples of such people are Seikei, a fictional character but still an honorable one, Mother Teresa, and Ronald W. Reagan. Except for the fact that they are all virtuous these people are very different.
Recent events in Canadian politics have shocked the artistic sector in Canada. The conservative party of Stephen Harper attacked the arts and culture sector by cutting funds to some major art programs in the country. Art has played an important role in the development of societies around the world. Everything from social structure and religion to politics and military was reflected in various forms of art; from painting and sculpture to theatre and dance. Ancient Egyptians build pyramids and had symbolic depictions of deities. Ancient Greeks, the fathers of democracy, were the masters of pottery, sculpture as well as architecture and painting. In ancient times art was not isolated from science, philosophy and of course politics. Everyday political, social, military and economical affairs were reflected in the arts, and vice versa. Artists were the thinkers, and thought provokers of the culture. In the Renaissance artists were synonymous with progress, invention and liberalism. They were the builders and reinforcers of cultural value and tradition. Modern day is seeing a variety of art forms that reveal the culture that art is produced within. Canada is a country rich in history, traditions and multiculturalism. It is important to sustain and develop the art sector in Canada in order to maintain and “voice” Canadian culture and identity. Moreover, the art industry in Canada not only improves the cultural fabric of the country, it also showing significant revenue to the government. The Harper Government funding cuts to the arts and culture sector is an unjustified act of censorship. Underfunding of Arts in Canada will hinder the development of values and unity in Canadian culture and Identity as well as hinder freedom of exp...
Top-down budgeting is the preferred method of budgeting for government agencies and many organizations (Ljungham). The methodology of top-down budgeting is described as “dominated by top members of the executive branch and the legislative branch” (Williams & Calabrese, 2011, 178). The methodology entrusts top members to make annual budgeting decisions for their organizations. In many instances, top members also use this time to set annual program or department goals and targets. Top members make these decisions without solicitation of input from bottom levels of an organization. This can result in operational and logistical constraints in the lower levels of an organization when plans are implemented (Williams & Calabrese, 2011). Additionally, it can serve as a source of frustration for staff when uninformed budgeting decisions create consequences. This is particularly true when staff is tasked with making things work in the aftermath of budgeting decisions, despite having clear or attainable goals and budgets. Like all budgeting methodologies, there are benefits and difficulties.

For my field placement, I am supervised by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), M.V., at a county contracted agency in Los Angeles. Northouse (2012) describes traits as qualities for an individual. Hence, M.V. shares qualities for many traits that define her leadership traits. The first trait that I identified M.V. with having is intelligence, because of her superior language skills and knowledge about the program and agency (Northouse, 2012). Furthermore, M.V.’s intelligence allows her to be well respect at the agency, because of her appropriate decision making and hard work ethic. Staff members and interns respect M.V., because she is always the person to answer questions when they are unsure about specific procedures and policies. Moreover, M.V.’s intelligence allows her to also possess the trait of confidence. Northouse (2012) defines confidence as leaders that feel self-assured and feeling positive about one’s ability to succeed. Since M.V. is often the supervisor many view as a strong leader, her confidence comes from understanding the ability to make the decisive decisions. Furthermore, because of M.V.’s decisive leadership, her confidence allows people to be reluctant to question her decisions at the agency. Another trait M.V. shares is determination, which allows her to be focused and have the drive to complete difficult tasks in a timely manner (Northouse, 2012). Combined with her confidence and intelligence, M.V. is always determined to have perfect client files and notes finished in a timely manner. Moreover, M.V. takes the initiative to come in early and finish work later than other staff in order to complete administrative tasks at the agency. Alt...
The use of hacking to identify weaknesses in computer security has become an increasingly controversial issue in recent years. Awareness of this issue is important, because our ever increasing reliance on technology means that breaches in computer security have the potential to have wide-ranging and devastating consequences to society, worldwide. This essay will begin by clearly defining the term ‘hacking’ and will examine the type of people who hack and for what reasons. There will then follow a discussion of the moral argument on hacking before examining a few brief examples. The essay will then conclude by arguing against the use of hacking as a means of identifying weaknesses in computer security.
In the book “To Live” the lamb is the manifestation of the kindness and innocence of Youqing and also an attack on communism in the novel. The sheep appear three times in the novel. It appears when they are a peasant, during the great leap forward and the slaughterhouse. Yu Hua contrasts communism and the relationship between Youqing and the lambs to illustrate the affectionate and emotional moments of the story. In the novel there are three events that are really striking; they are the great leap forward, the great famine and the Cultural Revolution. These events are developed to illustrate the cruelty of communism.

Not everyone who accesses the Internet uses it for research. Many people, especially young people use the Internet for e-mail and chatting. Chat rooms and instant messengers are becoming more prevalent on the Internet. Internet service providers such as America Online (AOL) have chat rooms where people from all over the world can chat about almost anything. AOL has chat rooms for teens, singles, religious groups, sports, and many other topics. If a person in a chat room likes what someone else in the chat room is saying, he or she can send a private message. If the two people get along, they can add each other to their buddy list so they can always talk when both are online. However, a problem may arise if a person does not use this way of chatting responsibly. After all, does anyone really know whom they are talking to unless they know the person personally? Common sense must be used at all times. The Internet can be very deceptive. A person needs to use extreme caution when giving out personal information to a person they are chatting to.
In any normal chat room that kids or adults might obtain on the computer many different things could be said in there. As information on this topic I went into a chat room just to see what kind of things people put on the screen.
