“Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I'm very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.”
- Bill Shankley (Khurana)

Known as football in all other nations except Canada and the United States, it is undoubtedly the most popular sport in the world. It is a game played by millions all across the world and in many countries, such as Brazil, soccer contributes to nationalism. Every four years it brings numerous nations together. This coming together, during what is known as the World Cup, is the most viewed sporting event across the globe. Soccer is a sport that has survived many generations, and through its survival it has evolved into a sport that is easily accessible and positively impacts nations that play it, making it the greatest sport in the world.
Soccer’s popularity is made evident by its ability to withstand the test of time. Dating back to the second and third centuries BC, there is evidence of an exercise done by the Chinese in which a leather ball was kicked into a small opening (FIFA), a practice fundamentally relative to the game of soccer. There were also other variations played during the time of the Roman Empire that closely resembled modern soccer. These earlier entities still differed from contemporary soccer, but nonetheless followed the same basic principle: a game that would be played with the feet rather than the hands. Games very similar to soccer slowly evolved in England, yet they all varied in their rules and regulations. Some of them were very violent, with one variation’s rule book stating that the ball could be taken from its possessor in any matt...

But trough soccer, these relationships reveal themselves in a hesitant fashion.
Soccer has been around for over 3000s years. The first game happened between the Barnes football club and Richmond football club. The game ended with a total score 0-0 draw in 1863. It was the first recorded game in the United States. Soccer was first started in China in 5000-300b.c where the military men would kick a ball stuffed with fur, they would kick the ball into a hole in the ground, the rules were no hands. Soccer is a culture in where I was literally born into. Playing since I was six years old I grew up learning every position of the sport. I was playing against the best in my school and all the way to the best in the state and even nation. IT showed me a lot of values and I know it will show me more as I grow up. This is an everyday thing in my life, but many others have their own culture and social structure where they learn a lot of values. The main point I believe is learning those values because that is what will make our social society
Growing up in El Salvador, soccer was a sport that significantly impacted my childhood. My cousins and uncles taught me how to play soccer, as well as various techniques that would later benefit me on the soccer field. At the age of seven I started to play for one of most well-known soccer clubs in El Salvador. Practicing twenty three hours a week was really paying off, as I could see in my medal and trophy gain. Not only did they represent my accomplishments, but they also gave joy to my teammates, community, and family because they were the people who encouraged me to give my best. Playing soccer was also a way to release stress because when my family was going through hardships, it was easier for me to let all of my negative energy on the
I cannot exactly place my reasoning, yet it still captivates me nonetheless. Soccer, or football, as most of the world knows it, stands out—at least to me—from virtually all sports. My opinion may be biased after a decade of playing, but there is a good reason I stuck with it for so long. While playing, I found myself to become so impassioned with not just the obvious, drawn-out goals of the game, but also with the paralyzing suspense present in no other sport quite as it is in soccer. I find it to be equally as exciting play as it is to behold. Seeing how one minute movement can completely change the outcome of the game is a marvel even to witness, let alone play. You almost cannot afford to look away, as every match is both detail-oriented and volatile.

The whole world comes together for the World Cup, a finals championship tournament for every country's team to compete to see who will be the winner. Even old people enjoy watching this game. According to Dictionary.com, soccer is defined as a 'form of football played between two teams of 11 players, in which the ball may be advanced by kicking or by bouncing it off any part of the body, except the arms and hands. However, in the case of the goalkeepers, they may use their hands to catch, carry, throw, or stop the ball.' There are no complex rules. No touching the ball only kicking. You have to get the ball into the goal to score a point. There also half times and out of bounds, but it's simple to understand. The competition is what I enjoy the most. I feel the rush of adrenaline shoot through me as I carry the ball down the field, and the other players trying to take it away from me.
