Living life to the fullest and achieving my dreams has always been the number one goal in my life, but one day I thought that my whole life was going to come to an end. I never knew that people could be so cruel. Who would want to bring fear to anyone? Considering where I live, one would have thought that this would not have been a shock. I guess I was too young to realize the harsh realities of the outside world. I heard a scream, so I quickly ran to the front, and came to an abrupt halt before I could be seen by the masked man. “Give me all the money in the cash register, or I will blow your brains out.” he demanded. At this point in time, I was frozen in terror. I knew that I should have called the police, but instead I ran into my grandmother’s room. Trembling and shaking, I sat on t...
She sucked in her cheeks but stared past him and said nothing. Anders saw that the other woman her friend, was looking in the same direction. And then the tellers stopped what they were doing, and the customers slowly turned, and silence came over the bank. Two men wearing black ski masks and blue business suits were standing to the side of the door. One of them had a pistol pressed against the guard’s neck. The guard’s eyes were closed, and his lips were moving. The other man had a sawed-off shotgun. “Keep your big mouth shut!” the man with the pistol said, though no one had spoken a word. “One of you tellers hits the alarm, you’re all dead meat. Got it?”

My teacher Mrs.Wilcox quickly got up and said urgently, “ Everyone go into the corner and be quiet.” She locked the door and scurried to join us in the corner. We sat deadly silent just as we heard keys jingling in the keyhole. We all stared at door fearfully just as the lock opened with a pop. A masked boy and man strolled into the room carrying big guns that swinged lazily by their sides. The boy cleared his throat, and said ,” Athena Adrianna Ambrosia rise up or,” his unusual colored eyes lit up mischievously ,” I’ll shoot.” I wobbly stood up trembling in fear. He strolled to me and grabbed my arm and started to drag me to the door while I struggled and pleaded for him to let go of me. He took me out of my classroom and exited the school with the masked man right at our heals. He paused and took something out of his pocket and whispered “Sorry ‘bout this.” He then plunged a syringe into the side of my neck and plunged whatever was in it into my bloodstream. My sight started to cloud and the last thing I saw before
There have been two events that have significantly influenced me to be the person I am today. The initial event was my parent’s divorce. The actual divorce didn’t impact me immensely. What affected me tremendously was whom my dad decided to get married to later on. The second event that influenced my life was attending church.
In combinations of words and shouts, I heard an indistinct cry “Robbery! Someone robbed me.” Out of total curiosity, I followed the path to the shop that got robbed. Pieces of shattered glass were spread unequally on the floor, jewels that were supposed to be stacked properly vanished. In an instant, the black figure sprinted over me, with a large crowd of visitors chasing him. The sound of heavy steps and fierce yells were groups of elephant crossing the river. Frightened, I cried with all my strength. “Help me! Save me!” There was no reply. In an impulse, I ran to the nearest pillar for cover, on the verge of tears. Out of nowhere, the black figure caught my collar and lifted me up. I was scared to death, no words, no tears could come out. A pointed, cold thing was on my neck. “Back up, all of you!” the man wearing black said. There was a complete silence in the mall as the black man shuffled backwards, toward the exit. The crowd followed him slowly, trying to create as less motion as possible. My heart was pounding fast, it felt like an undetonated bomb that may explode at any instant. Sweats were pouring out from my body, like a huge waterfall. Still, I was motionless and did not dare to speak anything. After he got the exit, the crowd was still nervous. Muted mutterings and small gestures lingered between the people in the crowd. Out of everyone
After a few minutes I had searched the entire truck and found just a couple small bags with money and coins, maybe a couple hundred. I was beginning to exit the truck, let down, when I heard the theater doors close and footsteps on the concrete coming towards me. My heart was lunging outside of my chest as my hand conducted a death grip on my gun. I saw the truck driver coming around the corner of the truck with heavy, full bags that were packed with money. That’s what I came here for. A flashback of my family, dressed in ragged, old clothes huddled together for warmth on the side of the street suddenly appeared in my head. I reacted from instinct and drew my handgun, then pulled the trigger. The truck driver fell on the ground, and so did the bags of money. I was still for a second, unable to move. As I snapped out of it, I ran to the body, grabbed the bags of money, and
That day, it was 10:34 in the morning. Jacob was just giving back an older woman her $200. He heard the door open and looked at the door, then he frowned. Four men walked in with lumps under their shirts. They were all wearing masks, as three of them came in, one put a lock on the door. Jacob thought, “What are they doing?” Then he looked at his wife, Crystal, at the desk close to the door. It was obvious she was scared. One of them then put a gun in the air and said: “Nobody move! Now we are going to do this nice and slowly, and everyone can go! All we want is the money and we will be on our way!” He looked left to my fellow banker and noticed that she was going for the alarm button under the table, she then clicked it. The alarm went off and she panicked and flinched. The robbers looked at her, one of the men who was talking walked up to her and asked her, “Was it you?” He then pointed the gun at her, she looked at me with terror and then there was a bang. She fell straight to the ground and her eyes still open and her face still in shock. The robber then asked: “Who’s next?” “Ring... Ring... Ring... Ring...” It was the phone. The police have already arrived. There were a total of 13 hostages and 4 robbers alive.
Experiences from your life have the chance to either affect you seriously for life or affect you as long as they can apply to your life. In my life there has been about a handful of hardships, enough at least for my counselor as well as other acquaintances to be surprised I have made it this far without losing my mind. It all started when I was around seven, my dad lost his job in Seattle, Washington so we were forced to move to Inman, Kansas. We lived on and off with my grandparents for around six years. In this time I was multiply molested/ assaulted by my grandfather, my father’s step-father. My father had gone into a deep Depression as he wasn’t employed for a long time after we moved to Kansas. This lifted from time to time when he found different jobs, none of which lasted long.
Life events are what shape the fabric of our souls. They could include; being accepted to college, a first job, or the death of a family member, but this is certainly not an all-inclusive list. Life events are significant milestones in an individual’s growth, impacting future decisions and views. An event that inspired me was 4,000 miles away from home.
In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on”- Robert Frost. Numerous might say a teenager won’t have many personal experiences, but I don’t see that to be true. Experiences don’t have to be an event that stands out to anyone else but yourself. As a golfer, I enjoy being on the golf course as much as possible, so therefore I applied at Edgewood country club golf course as a summer helper. With a few connections I felt extra confident and was ready for my interview. Rapidly I was hired and trained the same day. First, multiple of summers ago I was hired on as full time summer help at the Edgewood country club golf course. At the course I suffered exhausting days such as 7:00am to occasionally 10:00pm depending on
Out of the many people who teach me in life, my dad has influenced me the most. He has taught me much, has helped me when I have had trouble, and is always there for me. One of the areas in which my dad helps me is in difficult subjects such as math. The different types of equations and formulas in math sometimes confuse me. When my dad notices my confusion, he and I come up with a plan to resolve the problem before the next assessment. When I perform well on the next assessment, I realize that he has not just helped me to do well but has made me appreciate what I have learned. It is neither enjoyable nor easy, and I do not do this simply to please him. I do this because I value my education and my own success. My dad teaches me to push through my problems and resolve them -- and not just in school. He has helped me in all different kinds of problems. From making sure I have good, kind friends, to comforting me when I am upset or anxious, he takes a big role in my life. By always being there for me, he teaches me to do the same for others. And above all, my dad has influenced me to comfort those and make others happy. My dad is someone I know who has influenced me through his many daily actions.

For the purpose of this paper I will be describing a personal life experience and I will be applying concepts from the texts to best describe the event. I was born here in the United States (US) but, I was raised in the Dominican Republic (DR). I lived in the DR basically my entire life, I would only come to the US for vacation during summer. It was not until I turned 12 that I decided to move back to the US to continue my studies and learn the language. So I did, I moved with my uncle and his wife on the summer of 2009. At the time, they resided in the Mayfair area of Philadelphia, PA. My uncle and his wife arranged everything for school and as of August of that year I was officially enrolled in Abraham Lincoln High School. Everything was
My life has been the result of many situations that have shaped it; however, it was not until recently when I realized just how well I have it. It took one impactful life experience in order for me to recognize that my life, compared to how others must live their lives, has many more opportunities. Once I realized my great circumstance, it was like a switch went off in my head. I had to take action and make the most of my life by looking at life in a different way.
Have you ever been scared for the safety of a complete stranger? Have you changed somebody’s outlook on life just by being a Good Samaritan? Well, I have. It was a late Thursday night and I was in a bad part of town informally known as “The Knob.” I had been at a friend's house when we decided to leave to find somewhere to eat. On the way, my friend got a call from his mom telling him he had to be home. His house wasn’t really out of the way. As I pulled down Belle Avenue, towards his house, another friend of mine shouts out “Hey, pull over that guy just knocked that girl out” I instantly questioned this absurd accusation. “What? You’re joking.” As I turned around I noticed that he certainly wasn’t as I saw a middle-aged lady facedown on the pavement. Without hesitation I parked the car and we all ran over to see what was going on. You could see in the distance a man in an orange hooded jacket fleeing the scene. My friend attempted to wake this lady up. She was out cold. At this point each one of us had no idea what we should do. Obviously, the first thing we should have done was call the police, but let me remind you this was a bad part of town and didn’t know if we would be the next. Tommy, my friend, the nearest house and knocked on the door. A trashy looking man answered the door. After being informed that there was an unconscious lady in front of his house he scurried to her aid. The man then realized it was a good friend of his. Jane was her name. You could sense his anger and concern for this lady. He began to frantically ask questions. Who, what, when, where, why, how and every other sort of interrogation question was thrown our way. We described her assailant and which way he went. Evidently it was her boyfriend. At this ...
