Should Energy Systems Be Implemented On A Widespread?

Our nation, the United States of America, has given billions in grants and loans for research on windmill and solar energy. There are plenty of pros to solar and windmill energy but, there is also plenty of cons to go along with it. Some pros and cons being minor and some being major, this topic has sparked a dispute whether solar and windmill energy is a beneficial solution to our rapid use of resources on earth. Our earth is being deprived of its resources slowly but also at an alarming rate. However, solar and windmill energy could be the future of our world but, is solar energy good or bad for our planet? Those opposing solar and windmill energy have seen terrible things such as accidents happening from windmills. Tiffany Hsu highlights the faults of which windmills have, “Technicians have fallen hundreds of feet; others have been crushed by wayward parts or trapped in twisting machinery” (Hsu). Another reason why solar and or windmill energy is bad is because solar energy panels create wastes as they’re produced. Jason, author of an article on solar energy states, “While solar is a far less polluting energy source than coal or natural gas, many panel makers are nevertheless grappling with a hazardous waste problem” (Dearen). Solar panels are creating millions of pounds of waste and aren’t being treated as they should be ending up in water, which can be very contaminated and in facilities in states such as our own state Minnesota. A solar energy company from Fremont, California produced 6.2 million pounds of waste, of which were carried away by trucks of which are particularly heavy “They add 5 percent to a particular product's carbon footprint”, said Mulvaney a San Jose State University environmental studies professor. Solar... ... middle of paper ... ...also in the works to make sure this source of clean energy is the safest it can be (Greg Gordon). Thus solar energy should be the way our future world is powered as wind and sun are free sources provided by nature and aren’t harmful to our resources on earth. Works Cited Fox, Douglas.
