Sexual Orientation: Stop the Hate

Something that is wrong with society is the fact that it is over-judgemental of things that are outside of the norm. From the moment humans are able to establish differences between one thing and another, choices are made on what is considered better or what makes more sense to the developing mind. Such as, gay marriage is highly accepted by the younger generations rather than the older generations. This at one point in time created a stigma of sorts that alienated these specific individuals and for a time caused a plethora of teenage suicides. The only way to counteract the things that happen to the LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transexual) crowd is by starting early in teaching that it is okay to be different and to keep overly religious fanatics out of the conversation.
It is hard enough being an adolescent, let alone a LGBT individual, whether the person in question is “in the closet” or “out of the closet”. Whether or not science can prove or disprove a “gay gene” through hereditary notion or genetic activation and expression, there are LGBT people in all cultures and religions. This is not even an event stretching the past hundred years or so, this is something that has been happening since the beginning of civilization (Peters). So why is it a sudden trend by the church to persecute human beings that do not infringe on their beliefs.
Anyone who has seen a news report about a teen suicide or seen the effects of bullying on students would have to see the obvious. Who would willingly choose to live like this? To choose to be ridiculed and harassed for their sexual orientation by other children and even their families and community. This is where a line needs to be drawn when it comes to genetics vs environment and the religious ...
