The Separation of Church and State
America wastes a lot of time trying to create a democracy completely absent of the moral expectations that our ancestors have put into place. Our founding fathers’ dream of establishing a country in which all people would be accepted has begun to fall. In our attempt to rid our country of a democracy contaminated with any belief in a supreme power, we have rid ourselves of many of our values and morals. Perhaps it is impossible for religion to dominate our political country, but we have misinterpreted the original intent of “separation of church and state” and taken this concept too far.
Supposedly our country is split between church and state, but examples in our government show otherwise. Former presidents end their numerous speeches with controversial phrases such as “God bless you” and “God bless America.” Even President George W. Bush states that “Some needs and hurts are so deep they will only respond to a mentor's touch or a pastor's prayer. Church and charity, synagogue and mosque lend our communities their humanity, and they will have an honored place in our plans and in our laws.”
( http://odur.let.rug.nl/~usa/P/gwb43/speeches/gwbush1.htm) Even our national currency coins the phrase “In God, we trust.” Our own Pledge of Allegiance states that we are, “one nation, under God, and indivisible,” although our attitude towards the separation of church and state proves otherwise. The next step to take is to eliminate even the slightest mention of a supernatural being.
One of the most recent controversies pertaining to the separation of church and state is the removal of the Ten Commandments monument in Alabama. Ironically, the Alabama state constitution “’invoke[s] the ...

... time on taking these aspects away. Moral decline and persecution of religious practices are evident and growing in our society. When did American culture become so bitter towards the concept our country is based upon? Has the concept of God really led to turmoil and destruction? The answers to these questions may go unanswered, but the facts remain the same: Our society has taken the first amendment and Thomas Jefferson’s letter to the Danbury Baptist Association and interpreted it to mean that God has no place in our country’s make up. However, our political system suggests otherwise with examples such as the Pledge of Allegiance, Presidential Speeches, and currency.
Take a look at the ridiculousness of the situation. America is taking away aspects of our country that contribute to our moral setup. A separation between church and state is not necessary.
After Anna graduated from the University of South Dakota she began graduate work at the University of Iowa. She then made a thesis The extension of Galois theory to linear differential equations, which earned her a masters degree in 1904. One year later she earned a second graduate degree from Radcliffe College. At Radcliffe College she took courses from Maxime Bocher and William Fogg Osgood.
When it came down to the government during the convention of May 1776, instead of protecting our rights they had passed them down causing us to be under common law. If one had denied the Christian faith and went against everything it believed in, such as, “there are more Gods than one, or denies the Christian religion to be true, or the scriptures to be of divine authority, he is punishable on the first offence by incapacity to hold any office or employment ecclesiastical, civil, or military,” (Jefferson 176). This is what most people had thought about if you did not follow their religion. Thomas Jefferson believed that the wall between church and state should be very high in order to keep out and prevent hostile situations. Using an example from today’s news, many people get uncomfortable in the United Stated with the Muslim religion because of the previous horrific events that led to many cruel deaths in our history. By this, the way that we look at these people is forever changed because of the incidents and who knows if we will ever not be hostile with one another because of it. If church and state hadn’t been separated we may have not become a true democracy from what our developing country was seeming to lead towards. More people would not be as accepting of each other, and not that they are still not today, but I feel as if it may
New brands of distinctly American Christianity began developing early in the country’s history. Before the revolution, George Whitefield set the stage for American religious movements. The most important factor that helped launch these movements was the American Revolution. The country was ripe with conversation and action on a new understanding of freedom. The revolution “expanded the circle of people who considered themselves capable of thinking for themselves about issues of … equality, sovereignty, and representation” (6). The country was beginning to move toward an understanding of strength lying in the common people, and the people’s ability to make their own personal decisions on issues of leadership and authority. There was a common belief that class structure was the major societal problem. The revolution created the an open environment that pushed equality of the individual, allowing political and religious beliefs to flourish and grow without being held in check by authoritarian leaders.

Amelia got a call and they had asked her if she wanted to be the first woman to fly around the equator and over the Pacific ocean. Amelia agreed to what they were asking her to do. Amelia started training, within months of training they were finally ready to fly across the Pacific ocean. Amelia flew across the ocean in 1928, she mysteriously went missing in a plane crash while she was flying over the ocean, they never knew what happened to her for sure but there are some conspiracy theories that she disappeared into the bermuda triangle or that she was taken by the japanese but we are still not clear on what happened to
It appears the United States government has had a history of favoring Christianity. The United States government's favoritism of Christianity is a clear violation of the Christian faith. the First Amendment. This amendment states that "Congress shall make no law. respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
The promotion of a state-endorsed religion goes against everything in which what this country was founded on.
Prayer has been banished from schools and the ACLU rampages to remove “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance. Moreover, “Separation of Church and State” is nowhere found in the Constitution or any other founding legislation. Our forefathers would never countenance the restrictions on religion exacted today." -- Bill Flax, Forbes, 2011. Church and State seem to be two words that are entirely inseparable from each other.
...United States. In 1929, Earhart took third place in the first Women’s Air Derby in her Lockheed Vega. In 1930, Amelia set another record for women’s speed of 181 miles per hour. (ameliaearhartmuseum.org 2014).
Amelia Earhart was a feisty, young girl when she saw her first airplane. Little did she know that her small interest in planes would develop into a full-on passion. In today’s society of “political correctness”, many issues arise between the interests of the many interests groups of the nation. One of the issues that continue to generate heated debate is the displaying of the Ten Commandments and other religious documents on government property. The issue of the Ten Commandments is one of the most heated discussions on the local and national stage today. Although there are many groups and individuals opposed to the displaying of the Ten Commandments and other religious objects as a violation against the separation of church and state and against the 1st amendment which is freedom of religion, the question asked by many others is; should religious objects including the Ten Commandments be permissible on government property? The answer is, yes, it should be. By law, according to history, and first amendment rights not being violated, the simple legality of the issue is without a doubt, a non-debatable issue.
Introduction: Neither the resolve of patriots nor the labor of men freed Americans from the hands of tyranny. The fathers of this nation, as well as those who fought for her ability to prosper were united by their unwavering faith and trust in God. The future of this world lay heavily upon their shoulders, yet they carried the burden willingly for the duration of their lives and passed it down from generation to generation. As a result, a new nation was born and grew into one of the most powerful countries of the world. Although America began as a Christian nation, it has pulled away from the fundamental beliefs that held this nation together. Despite their ancient predecessor’s emphasis on faith and Christianity, the current government has taken a more secular path. The legality of abortion and the exclusion of religious references in public institutions are a couple of examples how morality has been corrupted within the government. Society itself also forsakes the religious path, twisting the concept of morality to fit the lifestyles they wish to lead. David Barton uses line graphs to demonstrate the decrease of morality since 1950. Violent behavior, the circulation of sexually transmitted diseases, and the birth rate for unwed girls, has drastically inclined while educational achievement and family stability have dropped at an accelerated rate (242). It is apparent through the government’s choices, the media, and the attitudes present in average society that Americans have drifted far away from the principles on which this country was founded. Without a genuine faith and trust in God, American society will continue to deteriorate until memories of a once great nation are all that remains.
Amelia Earhart was born July 24, 1897 in Atchison, Kansas and Disappeared July 2, 1937 on her travel trip across the Atlantic Ocean. Samuel Stanton Earhart and Amelia Otis Earhart were parents of Amelia, Amelia was 1 out of 2 kids. Until she was twelve she lived with her wealthy maternal grandparents, Alfred and Amelia Harres Otis, in Atchison, Kansas. Where she attended a private school, her summers were spent in Kansas City, Missouri, where her lawyer-father worked for the Rock Island Railroad. Many people believe that women can’t do as much as men can, but Amelia Earhart proved those men wrong and become a hero.
The two often walk hand in hand, operating seemingly in tandem. Jakobsen and Pellegrini would argue, that to be secular does not mean to be rid of the church. Moreover, instead of representing a “freedom” from Christianity and its overarching control, secularism falls into its own categories of control, dominating practices in both “private and public life (Jakobsen 261).” After all, the origins of secularism link to religion, but religion continues to influence politics in the modern era. An estimated 50 to 80 million evangelicals live in the United States, acting as a large demographic bloc ripe for political negotiation and treatise (Pelosi).
