Building a Skills Portfolio There are so many skills I learned & developed during the study it can be limited as follow. I learned so many techniques for establishing rapport in personal and work situations, practice and recognize effective behaviors for building rapport, developed questioning and restating skills, to identify effective behaviors for influencing others, to recommend specific approaches for influencing others in the workplace, to recognize the collaboration is necessary to achieve desired results, identify factors to enhance or impede team performance, applying guidelines for effective team performance to my own school or work situations. Connecting to the Workplace Through case studies and personal reflection, now I will be able to explore my beliefs, values, and ethical principles as they relate to the world of work. Communicating Effectively By analyzing the communication patterns of famous people and others, I will discover the importance of effective interpersonal communications in the workplace and in life. Assessing the Skills Now I will be able to recognize effective and ineffective behaviors in the workplace. To discover the interpersonal effectiveness based on the responses, explore strategies for improving the skills in building rapport, influencing others, and teamwork. Developing Transferable Skills Being competitive in any job market includes understanding how your past experience is relevant to the positions you are now pursuing, and will pursue in the future. The first skill that I taught myself was to always be determined. This helped me greatly, for it put me in the right state of mind to continue my work at a high level. At some points, this determination led me to surpass my own expectations and achieve higher than what I had originally thought. Secondly, this experience helped me learn that I am adaptable. I couldn’t let this affect my future, life is too precious to waste it grieving over what was lost, but to embrace the new doors that open up. I had to learn how to become a stronger, and better person mentally. This had helped me adapt to a new life style, making myself a better person and improving on things that will help me later on in life. Because of this, I realized that I could overcome most obstacles that are placed in my way, and produce better work when faced with these obstacles. Thirdly, I learned how to be a mature person and grow up faster than I had ever thought. After this experience I realize how short life really is, and there is no time for me to waste in accomplishing my dreams. So I had to get back to work, and continue to strive to be the best. All the work that I had accomplished was improving. Only showing how I wont run away from a challenge, but rather embrace the obstacles in my way to become a stronger
While working or while looking for work there are certain skills sets that are universally important. No matter what job or career path you have chosen these skills make it easier to obtain your goals, whatever they may be.
There are skills I have picked up via my studies in college too, which I believe make me the ideal student. One of my most improved skills is my Presentation abilities, when I first started college I hated the idea of standing up in front of everyone and speaking, but via increasing my confidence and repeatedly doing presentations it no longer fazes me. I am also quite an articulate person, which I noticed via proof reading for my friends, I can immediately spot spelling mistakes and if a sentence doesn 't flow correctly, this makes me hyper critical of my own work before I hand it in to be
It may take a long time to make progress in these skills but what I need to remember and implement is the strategies that I have mentioned. Also in this process I will be able to find out whether these strategies work on me or not and if there are other strategies that can help in improving my skills.

Interpersonal communication is one of the significant skills while communicating with other individuals. It normally covers an extensive area and includes both verbal and non-verbal communication. It is not easy to understand significance of some things and their impact until you actually undergo them. Ability to effectively communicate and work is one such thing. Before I started business communication class, I was very pessimistic about my communication abilities and my competence in rapidly evolving field of business communication. I was unconfident and nervous on my first day of class. I quickly realized that business communication is course that you will never learn until you energetically engage in various situations of listening and speaking. However, with all wonderful experiences of participation in the class, I personally felt that I gained a real experience without even working in an organization. Interactive nature of the class combined with wonderful teaching of Diana has really helped me to gain immortal knowledge. Through this course, I have refined my communication skills and strengthened my confidence to deliver professional standards and competencies emphasized by potential employers.
