In order for an individual to develop self-improvement he or she must have a clear goal. on the other hand self-development is seen as a potential behaviour which result from experience this implies that self-development cannot be observed directly it can only be inferred by behaviour (Hulse et al.1980).managers need to learn new skills to improve their working performance and relationship among workers; in order to be an effective manager we need to keep on learning new things this aids he or she to adapt to challenges that may occur in the workplace (Brine,
According to Daniel Goleman (2002), self-awareness is the degree to which you are able to notice your feelings, label them, and connect to their source.
In order to maximize potential as a professional counselor, the therapist needs to regularly self-examine which usually transcends into more self-awareness. One definition of self-awareness is to be able to identify personal preferences and biases (Knapp, Gottlieb, & Handelsman, 2017).

I learned that I thought, that I had more Self-awareness (chapter two) then I actually do. I always thought that my self-awareness was good until I realized what it really was. Self- awareness makes you ask the question who am I? allowing you to view yourself as a unique person and to reflect on your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I realized that I had a lot of learning to do. For example; when I was in high school, I thought that the reason I didn't do well was because of the hard ships that I was going through but in reality it was because I wasn't aware that my ability to work hard and study was slacking. I had to learn how to work ahead and plan a schedule of some sort in order to stay organized. I learned that my Self-esteem (chapter two) which is the overall values, good or bad, that we assign for ourselves. is very low. This surprises many people, I have always been told that I am a good optimistic person, but unfortunately all I saw was my flaws and problems making me have very little self-esteem. However, through this year and my classes I gained two things that improved my self-esteem very much. Those two things include leadership and confidence, for example; I am the student leader and advisor for my alternative high school, I gave a speech to our congressmen and the press to share information about my alternative high school and I help students achieve small things like
Self awareness simply means one’s being concious of its own character (knowing one’s self), such as qualities a person have in him or her self, what is the persons belief and values, how extend is the persons limitation on something and what are their strength and weakness. It also, distinguishes between the inner self that is how one feels from inside and the outer self, what other people see on you includes your appearance, verbal and nonverbal behaviour (Bulman and schutz,2004). Self awareness is not essential only for reflective learning but also for skilled professional nursing practice by having knowledge of one’s values belief and behaviour and how it affects others is important for developing good interpersonal skills and integrate therapeutic relationships with our clients.

As we reviewed the self awareness module this past week it was very interesting to see how the self assessments provided the class information about their own personal human behaviors. I was aware of most of the information provided but there were some tendencies I was surprised to find fitted my character. It was good to be reminded of the things I had forgotten about myself. Learning about my individuality and how I interact and respond to others based on my traits, personality and behavior has been an awakening experience. It is also great to know that I can work on areas that need improvement to become a more balance person to better assist my subordinates, teams and organizations.
Self-Management Skills: Displays confidence and remains in control when handling difficult or unfamiliar situations. I realised that self-awareness is important in achieving self-improvement. The more an individual understands themselves, the better he or she is at adapting life changes that is according to their needs. The more self-aware we are, it improves the level of confidence we have on oneselves. This can be achieved through greater exposure, thus widens one’s experiences and will be more likely be more accepting of others. Self-awareness will also benefit us to be more accurate in accessing
