Saving the Planet

Today the big issue in the world is pollution. Scientist is trying to figure out how to undo the pollution we have created. Chief Seattle, in “Letter to President Pierce, 1855,” exposes how differently the Indians and the white man treat the land. He wants the white man to understand that all things are created equal. In the article “Causes of Pollution and It’s Types,” Mian Afaq Tariq exposes air, water, land, and noise pollution and how each one was caused. He wants to educated people so they can start doing their part to help. We should look at the past as a reference for the future, but our pollution problems are getting worse not better.

We were warned by Chief Seattle about how man takes care of the land. “The white man does not think of the earth as his brother, but as his enemy, when he has conquered it he moves on.” (Seattle, 642) The Indians like the quietness of the empty lands, and the white man’s cities were polluted with loud noise of the large population. The white man was taking aver all the land and killing all the wildlife. At the rate there were going all of the animals were going to be gone and they would have starved. The Indians killed animals and used the land, but there has to be a balance between nature and human. The Indians felt one with the land and knew how to keep this balance.

There are a few different types of pollution. Air pollution, which can also be called smog, is caused by the fumes let out by cars, trucks and airplanes. This is a big problem in big cities like Houston, Texas and Los Angeles, California. Their populations are very high and everyone drives their own cars. Educating oneself on pollution issues is very important. A person cannot do their part if they do not know the problems. There are websites, libraries and environmentalist available to help people understand and to teach how to prevent pollution. Mian Afaq Tariq had excellent points about eh causes of pollution and what can be done to reduce it. My family and I help out by recycling paper, plastic and glass. The world is getting bigger and everyone is using up all the natural resources. Hopefully people will wake up and do their part to save Earth, before it is too late. It does not take much, just by recycling, limiting automobile usage, and using natural product is help out.
