Could you imagine a world without tigers, the giant panda, or the rhinoceros? What a paler place it would be. Astonishing amounts of animals are considered critically endangered and near extinction. If we would like these animals to be around for future generations, we cannot hesitate in our efforts to help them.
Rhinoceros - Sadly, the White, Black and Javan rhinoceros are all on the critically endangered list. The Indonesian Javan Rhino is in particularly bad shape with having less than 60 of their kind left in the world. There are about 3000 Black Rhinos. Illegal Hunting is their major threat.
Giant Panda - The Giant panda originates from China, Burma and Vietnam. High estimates say there are fewer than 2000 left in the world low estimates say 700. The primary reason for the decline in their population is poaching and loss of habitat.
Sumatran Tiger - This beautiful big cat is a native of Indonesia. Over the last fifty years, its numbers have decreased drastically from hunters and destruction of the Indonesian forests. Over 80% of the Indonesian forests has been cut down and sadly more is lost daily. Thanks to strict hunting laws, the Sumatran Tiger’s number have been slowly increasing over the last ten years. However, their population is still below 600.
Siberian/Amur Tiger- The Siberian tiger is the largest cat in the world. They are found in Russia. Today there are around 400 Siberian Tigers in the world. Although, this may not seem like a lot, it is a definite improvement on the 40 that lived only 50 years ago.
Polar Bear- Polar bears live throughout the Artic. At one time, there was several hundred thousand but due to excessive hunting; there numbers have decreased to fewer than 25,000.
Mountain Gorill...

...hem; today there numbers have grown to 500. Sadly, their habitat is diminished so much that even if their numbers do grow, it will be unable to sustain more than 2000. Their plight is due to loss of habitat ad poaching.
Amur Leopard - The Amur leopard comes from East Russia, Korea and Northeast China. They are the rarest big cat in the world and are “critically endangered”. There is only 30-40 left in the world.
Sadly, many beautiful animals on this planet are on the verge of extinction. Only serious changes made immediately will make a difference in their survival. It will take all of us working together to save these species and to ensure no more feel their plight. Although it is too late for those we have already driven to extinction, it is not too late for those critically endangered. It is up to us to ensure they will be there for our future generations.
These rare animals . The jaguar is a big cat. It is the only big cat species that can be native to America
Endangered species are plants or animals expected to die off within a few years. “Facts about Endangered Animals” is an article that teaches its readers general facts about many animals facing extinction. Four main categorizes for endangered plants and animals include vulnerable species, threatened species, endangered species, and extinct species. The vulnerable species have such declining numbers that they are at risk (1). Threatened species have enough numbers but are decreasing in their normal environment. Endangered species are on the verge of extinction. Existing no longer, are extinct species (2). Within the present years, there are currently thirty-eight known mammal species that have been listed as extinct (1). Endangered species are either headed towards extinction or are going up towards the threatened stage. Either way, their numbers are always altering, and the aspects are numerous.
Tigers are the largest members of the cat family. They live in Asia and belong to the same genus as the lion, leopard, and jaguar. Two major subspecies of the tiger are the Siberian tiger and the Bengal tiger. The tiger is thought to have originated in northern Asia during the Pleistocene Epoch.
There were 5 mass extinctions in the past, with the latest one more known to man, the Cretaceous-Tertiary mass extinction that caused the wiped out of the dinosaurs. Though the latest one happened 65 million years ago, something representing this phenomenon of mass extinction is underway in our era. While past mass extinctions were caused by natural forces, and asteroid, climate change and sea level’s changes were thought to be the culprit, this time the actor behind is not natural, and it is us Human Beings. It might occur to many that the current trend of animal extinction has no consequences on us, but in fact it is not true. Many of the endangered species does matter to us significantly. In this paper, using examples of some neglected critical endangered species as main headings, I will look into different forms of human activities that had led to their losses, and also more importantly how these losses could have impacted on us.
Why is the Amur Leopard critically endangered and what is being doing to promote conservation of these wild cats?
Unfortunately, besides the animal being such a stately and scientifically contributing creature, it has been endangered by various factors.
There are under 3,000 red pandas left in the world. This is because they are losing over 50% of their habitat. They are endangered, but there are many ways to help.
They like to live in dense forests, steep mountain slopes with banks that are 1,800 to 3,000m and maybe even higher.
Several species on Earth are on the endangered species list and are given special protection to insure the species survives. Sometimes the protection of these species is not enough for the guarantee of survival. Many factors including human activity, and the failure of the species to adapt to change has caused the population of the majestic tiger to dwindle. Despite laws such as the Endangered Species Act of 1973, countries all over the world have failed to help this dying species. The editorial, “Tigers are tanking,” published by Globe & Mail, explains that tigers will be extinct in little as 12 years (Tigers are tanking). This was reported 3 years ago, leaving the countdown to 9 years. We can reverse the damage that has been done and it is not too late.
The best guess is there are about 15,000 jaguars in the wild. People are trying to save them. There are 150 square miles in the Belize rainforest where about 200 jaguars run free. This is called a reserve, where people protect them. It is good to take care of our animal friends.
In the world where people live in is an enormous responsibility but also the greatest gift that people need to cherish and protect. The human race needs to step up and voice not only their concerns, but the concerns of all the animals endangered or not. Any species which fall into the categories vulnerable, endangered, or critically endangered are considered to be at risk of extinction. {Robert Redford} said “I think the environment should be put in the category of our national security defense of our resource’s because it’s just as important as defense abroad otherwise what is there to defend?”
LIFESTYLE: The Siberian tiger at one time ranged through Korea, China, parts of Russia, and Siberia. Today, they are near extinction in all areas, except Russia.
Imagine a world with barren trees in overgrown fields. The only sound to be heard is the wind blowing through the tall grass. A world once full of life now lays empty do to extinction. This is the result of a world that failed to understand the importance of wildlife conservation. Why is wildlife so important? What steps need to be taken to preserve wildlife? How can one become involved in wildlife conservation? These are all important questions that need to be explored in order to help maintain the delicate ecosystem on Earth. Wildlife plays a vital role in this fragile ecosystem and without wildlife the human race would not survive.
In our world today we have approximately 26,021 endangered species. Endangered species are organisms that may possible become extinct. The term 'endangered species' refers to all species that fits this description. However some conservation biologists and scientists normally use the term ‘endangered species’ to refer to species that are put on the IUCN(International Union for Conservation of Nature)Red List. Many factors can be looked at when considering the conservation status of a species. Factors such as human threats or environmental threats can cause a species to become endangered.
In the world today there are about five thousand endangered species. Around one specie dies out every year. Some animals become endangered because people are killing them for their horns, as in the case of the Black Rhino of Africa. Others become extinct because pesticides are put on the food we eat, causing the animals that eat the insects off the plant to become contaminated, which causes their predators to become contaminated, which often affects the shell of that organism?s egg. Here is a list of the endangered species, 91 endangered birds, 76 endangered mammals, 36 endangered reptiles, 21 endangered amphibians, 115 endangered fish, 70 endangered clams, 35 endangered snails, 44 endangered insects, 12 endangered arachnids, 21 endangered crustaceans, 594 endangered flowering plants.
