Road Rage in the United States: Causes, Effects, and Solutions

Thesis Road rage is a major problem in the United States, it causes anger, fear , and accidents to our roadways everyday.

Introduction In this essay we will define road rage, look at the causes and effects, and come up with posssible solutions on how to avoid an altercation with an agresssive driver who has road rage. I will try to encourage you to learn how to share the road , with not only other drivers, but also pedestrainas and bicylists. I stronglt believe that the reason for road ragein our country is poor coping ability to stress. Most of these people belive that releasing their anger is a form of release where they let off some steam, but the opposite happens, and this anger continues to build into rage. Drivers who are stressed and choose to turn to road rage often select strangers because its easier to get angry with someone you don't know, but this stress does impact those closest to them as well such as: a co-worker, family member, pets, children etc.. It's as if, there wall of stress is ready to explode on anyone who pushes theri buttons.

The face of road rage is not the typical "crazy lientent "that is ready to go on a shooting rampage that we've come to associate with road rage. The reality is that, the face of road rage takes all forms and there is not a single individual that is excluded reagrsless of theri age, color, race, or background. When we get into our vehicles, we need to always assume some form of risk of running into another driver who has road rage, so we need to take precaution and allow ourselves to be composed mentally and learn to see the warnign signs of someone who is an agressicve driver, so you may avoid any c...

...ak, and really make a better judgemnet call when they are in a dilema of stopping either a driver who speeds, versus an agressive driver. Have you ever been stoipped and bnoth you and the officer witnessed a car passing you by at top speed and drivbingh agressively? If you have, did you ever wish that the officer would let you off with a warning and go after the agressive driver? I belive that is thsese offivers used their common sense and stopped worring about meeting their quota and started to buckel down on these agressive driver, they will have saved the life of many inncoent bystanders. Law enforcemtn policies need to be revised sothey go after more agressivce drivers, than speeders. To me, both are breaking the law, but the agressice driver could cause far mroe harm than the speeder who is probablky an upstandng citizen who is possibly late for school or work.
