Animal cruelty is a rising problem in many states and many people don’t realize it. What we can do to help lower the increasing rate of animal abuse is to make punishments stronger and stricter. These punishments should not just be a slap on the wrist and someone saying “that’s not right”, that just shows them you don’t care. Together we may be able to make a big difference and stop animal cruelty. Together we can make the punishments stronger.
Most people who have accused of animal cruelty only get charged with a minor misdemeanor. A minor misdemeanor is just a warning not to do it again; of course, most people do not take this warning seriously. For example, an Egyptian man, Ahmed Fathy Faudtaye (A.K.A. Ahmed Mido) threw a poor defenseless dog off the roof a high building. After three weeks of suffering from horrible injuries the dog finally died. This man was only charged with a minor misdemeanor, but because he was only 17 he wasn’t charged, he only has to pay a 30 dollar fine when he turns 18, even though they had several different animals showing extreme sign of abuse. The law for the state of North Carolina is “If any person shall intentionally overdrive, overload, wound, injure, torment, kill, or deprive of necessary sustenance, or cause or procure to be overdriven, overloaded, wounded, injured, tormented, killed, or deprived of necessary sustenance, any animal, every such offender shall for every such offense be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. (b) If any person shall maliciously torture, mutilate, maim, cruelly beat, disfigure, poison, or kill, or cause or procure to be tortured, mutilated, maimed, cruelly beaten, disfigured, poisoned, or killed, any animal, every such offender shall for every such offense ...

... your local shelter or animal rescue organization. 10- Try to start a neighboring watch program (if you can) [ASPCA]. If you were going to protest, you could protest against animal abuse or for stronger punishments to try and get the punishments to be stronger. Or you could possibly debate about why you feel this needs to happen, but if you debate, debate with someone with a high ranking to try and prove your point.
Together we can make punishments against animal cruelty stronger. If we try to actually help these poor innocent animals, we may be able to stop it. Animal cruelty is wrong and unfair, but maybe now that you see that you will help these animals and stop it. These animals don’t deserve this, all they want is love.

Therefore, animal abuse is a growing trend in today’s society. This trend is bad for today’s society for reasons including death row for the animals, an increase in cost for animal shelters, and a decrease in space for the animals to be safe. Society can stop animal abuse by reporting anything they might see. Together, our society can put a stop to animal abuse, and protect our domesticated pets.
Many people may argue that animal cruelty laws should not be stricter because abuse to animals and abuse to humans are on an entirely different level; however, the numerous studies connecting the violence to animals with the violence to humans are indisputable proof that lenient animal cruelty laws are not only unethical but also dangerous. Ask your conscious what is the right thing to do, and when it tells you, write to your congressman and ask them to fight for helpless animals’ rights, and if you join organizations such as the ASPCA, perhaps together we can successfully end the suffering.
What is animal cruelty? Why do animals mean so much to most people? Animal cruelty is when someone hurts an animal or does not care for an animal responsibly, like not giving a dog or cat food and water. It's against the law to abuse animals but they don't have a punishment harsh enough for anybody that does that. Most cases of animal abuse is never reported and represented in most rural and urban areas. Animals mean so much to most people because most people would consider a pet more of a friend than just an animal. I’m against animal abuse, and I really think there should be a harsher penalty.
Animal abuse is described generally as any act or omission that causes unnecessary or unreasonable harm to an animal. Animal abuse are vary and can lead to different forms. These may include, tormenting or beating an animal, executing an animal in a harsh way, binding or transporting an animal in a way that is improper for its welfare, neglecting to give fitting living conditions, neglecting to give proper or satisfactory sustenance or water for an animal and neglecting to give suitable treatment to infection or injury (Animal Cruelty, n.d.). In general, for an act to be considered as animal cruelty, it must be a non-accidental, socially unacceptable, enacted on a vertebrate animal, causing pain, suffering and distress or death. (Battle, 2013).
On the other hand, just as there are laws there are many weak laws that have been enforced to protect animals from cruelty. As a matter of fact not only are the laws weak, but they are also rarely enforced. The reason being is because police officers and public presecutors frequently view animal cru...
Should animals have to go through pain and suffering? Should they have to go without food and/or water? The answer is no. Animal abuse happens everyday and it happens because people are barbarous or because they don’t know how to take the best care of an animal that they have. Animal cruelty is a rapidly growing nationwide problem. Animals are being battered and starved everyday. There are many forms of animal cruelty; some forms are scientific research, abandonment, and mistreatment.
Animal rights are the privileges for all animals to live freely from any harm. There were
“There can be many reason for animal cruelty, like any other form of violence, is often committed by a person who feels powerless, unnoticed, or under control of others. Some who are cruel to animals copy acts what they have seen or that have been done to them, others see harming an animal as a safe way to get revenge against--or threaten-- someone who cares about that animal”. (“Animal… Statistics”) Concerns towards abusing animals have gone up in the past. Although there are not many cases on animal abuse, many have occurred. Abusers are charged with Criminal Animal Abuse and then sentenced to life in prison. Some animals that are physically abused are sometimes rescued by Animal Control, and are taken it to an animal shelter. However, many shelters have not had the space to keep the animals so the workers would have to put them down (Carol Roach). Researchers have shown that the main animals getting abused are dogs, chickens, horses, and livestock (“Animal...
The ugly truth is that animals are dying at the hands of their owners everyday, some in very violent ways that can be avoidable given the right solution. Slaughterhouses, puppy mills, dog fighting, and so on, are just a few examples of how animals are being treated badly by people. Animal cruelty is a form of violence which, un...
Review Main Points-Animal cruelty continues to be a problem, but we as individuals can make a difference by becoming aware and ultimately involved.
Animal abuse is a travesty in our world that must be stopped. Every year, millions of animals suffer because of human actions, directly or indirectly. Whether it’s abused dogs and cats or even mistreated circus animals, their suffering is as real as it would be if it happened to us. Even animals who are raised on farms simply for human consumption should not have to suffer. One of the worst parts of humanity’s role in animal abuse is that there are easy ways for people to help that they are either ignorant of or simply refuse to do. There are many examples of animals who are abused by humans, but there are also ways for people to help prevent and put an end to animal abuse.
“Man is the highest rated animal, at least among all the animals who returned the questionnaire (Brault, 2009).” For years humans have been using animals for experimentation, food, clothing, sport and entertainment, manual labor, and let us not forget man’s best friend. The unethical treatment of animals can best be resolved by deontology contrasted with ethical egoism.
All in all, emotional pain, physical pain, or the extent of the abuse, is mistreatment towards any animal and should not be tolerated but instead be brought awareness to. It is our job to be the voice for the creatures who cannot speak up for themselves. Followed by the empathy of humans, especially that of children, I believe that by bringing awareness to this social injustice will result in a more thoughtful and compassionate community who will have the power and responsibility to make choices in the best interest of animals. It will give the community a sense of pride to stand up for something so important to society. Finally, the actions that we can take in order to bring about the awareness of animal cruelty will have a significance to ensuring the safety of pets and other animals across the globe.
