America has gone through a terrible past. It has once decided to own people as property and deprive African Americans of their liberties and enslaved them. Since then, the United States has attempted to repair this mistake through reparations. The legal reparations of the United States have unsuccessfully redressed individual and social injustices by failing to alleviate the pain caused to the African American community. The Harm caused by Slavery still continues to be suffered by the community through this day.

African Americans have always been devalued in the American Legal System. Even since the days of colonial Europe, it was custom, not law that African Americans were inferior to their Anglophone whites. They have always held that they were inferior, meant to be subjugated by the superior and dominant white Anglophone race. It has been ingrained in custom and cultural beliefs of America and thus the American legal system is inherently prejudiced against African Americans. To seek and thus achieve reparations, African Americans must perform and arduous task. They must challenge the law. They must challenge the cultural attitudes of a white dominated society. But since legal reparations requisite the usage of the American legal system they must challenge the law, they must challenge it within its confines

When the United States maintained a system of African Slavery, they sold them on at the current values. African’s were believed to be commodities to be bought and sold. They were culturally held to be less then their white counterparts. Blacks, who have been, for the longest time in America’s history, been denied of their basic rights clearly had always been unable to pursue relief for social injustices preformed against them. In order for reparations to be effective, courts must takes away these cases in a special way and seek to correct past social injustices and toss away some of the harsh procedures that have been repeal been used against them to deny them social justice.

The inability of reparations for Successful reparations is the inability to organize an actual movement that seeks reparations from the United States government. There has been argument within the movement about the extent the claim. Should the claim extend from colonialism or just slavery?
