I do not know much about the Renaissance era, but I do know a little. I know it took place between 1485 and 1660. There were quite a few boats. There was the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. Those were the ships that Christopher Columbus and his crew used to discover the New World. There was the mayflower; the vessel that carried the pilgrims to Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts. The entire Spanish Armada that got defeated by the English navy. Then there was the Victoria, the boat that Ferdinand Magellan and his crew set sail on to circumnavigate the globe. Some famous people were born, and others were executed. Bill Shakespeare was born in 1564 and King Charles I was defeated in the English civil war, was tried, and beheaded. Buildings were built, and others were almost blown up during the renaissance. The Taj Mahal was built, which took seventeen years and the king had ordered for the builders to have their hands cut off so they could never build anything as magnificent again. Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the British Parliament building in retaliation for the King increasing the repression of Roman Catholics. There is more I would like to know about this time period. Many questions come to mind, such as, “How did people dress during the renaissance?” and “ What did they do for fun or entertainment?” or “Were there any major advances in science or technology that still have an effect on us to this day?” The Search Results The Renaissance era got its name from rinascita, the Italian word for rebirth (Grendler). I learned things such as how this era got its name as well as how humanism thinking affected the people of the time. Various styles of art were developed, as well as several new inventions that revolutionized how we look at the world today. Without the printing press we wouldn’t have books to learn from or the bible to have a religion. We learned a lot from that time period like how the Sun revolves around the Earth and not vice versa. The Renaissance Period is widely known for the abundance of amazing portraiture that circulated around Europe. During the Renaissance, Albrecht Dürer, a German artist painted a self-portrait in 1500 that had qualities that differed from the usual style of artist in that time (Chauhan). Jean Clouet also painted a portrait for the King of France and became the official court painter. Both artists had a talent for portraiture, while their styles were quite different. King Francis I wanted to be seen as a powerful man, and appointed Clouet to paint him in a classically renaissance way that highlights his wealth and authority. Dürer, described as a cocky, self-centered man, painted himself in a light that is unique and puts him on a ‘holy’ pedestal (Stokstad 356). In this essay I will show how although both paintings have clear differences with their style, both men in the compositions are conveyed in a great and very powerful sense.
The Renaissance as a Time of Change The Renaissance was a time of social and economic change, feudalism was nearly abolished and money became a heavy commodity rather than loyalty and promises. The church became secularized and people put more emphasis on science and arts. Ideas and values enveloped the land. At this time the peasant population was around ninety percent of the overall population.
Though the Renaissance era included all of Europe, Italy was the cradle of the movement. The cities of Florence, Rome and Venice were of great importance to this period. Major artists created art mainly in these three. As the center of Italy, Rome held the residence of the Pope and many other important factors. Throughout history, the Roman Catholic Church was very insistent on promoting their ideas. During this time, they used artists and their creativity to promote the Bible and other aspects of their beliefs. Artists were paid, or commissioned by patrons (often the Pope) to create art they wanted. One of the most ambitious patrons was Pope Julius II, who realized the impact visual images had on people’s ideas (Kleiner, 599). Pope Julius II was called the warring Pope, because he often went and involved himself in wars. He also held very humanistic ideas. Because of this, Michelangelo’s relationship to Pope Julius II was very different from his relationship with Pope Leo X, who succeeded Julius II. Julius, because of his adaptions to humanistic thoughts, he let Michelangelo express himself to the fullest, even when forcing him to paint the Sistine Chapel. Leo X, however, was very critical of everything Michelangelo set out upon. This resulted a strained relationship, and eventually abandonment of projects that were supposed to be completed. It is clear that Pope Julius II had a liking for Michelangelo, while the Medici’s looked on him as a type of lowly artist subject to their will.
This time era was filled with many good things that allow modern life to exist. The Renaissance was a time of many new ideas and many new practices in medicine, entertainment, punishments and many other topics. Without the knowledge that was gained in this era many things that we take for granted now would never of existed. In this essay I will tell you about the many things that occurred during this time period and how people in this time would have lived their daily lives.
"...A realization of the human potential for development," is an accurate description of the Renaissance. People were beginning to accept change in social institutions as well as in many traditional beliefs. Poets, such as John Donne, were questioning ideas that seemed to be set in stone. They were also changing the structure and style of poetry.
The Renaissance was known rebirth of learning that contributed to the exploration of new forms of artwork and literature(pg.37). The rebirth took place in the middle ages , this is recently after the plague had passed and people want to now celebrate life because the had survived a massive epidemic(pg.37). This is the time in history where people started to question the church and all of there beliefs and Artist discover a new way to add detail to the art work and writing has taken on a life of it's own. these event greatly impacted how Europe was seen to themselves and the rest of the world(pg.37).

A main focus of the Renaissance was ancient Rome and Greece, which people studied in order to get a better understanding of their world. Artists and writers were able to express the ideals of the Renaissance by using an element of realism in their work that people of the time could easily relate to and understand.

The Renaissance was a bridge that allowed Western Europe to move from the medieval era to the modern era. Renaissance later spread to other parts of Europe. Advances in technology allowed art and architecture to flourish during the Renaissance era. Cities like Florence in Italy saw a spike in artists and architects who have changed from mere paid skilled laborers to professional artists.

During a time period from approximately 1375 to 1527, an event known as the Renaissance took place in Europe. This was the establishment of an entirely new way of life; there was a vast rebirth of knowledge and arts which changed Europe completely. Due to events such as the rediscovery of classical works, the Black Death, the invention of the printing press, and the development of humanism, the Renaissance greatly influenced Europe on many levels. Europe gained more wealth, which led to the progression of a new focus on art and learning. From a political perspective, the Renaissance created a division and a competitive nature between the European countries, along with the formation and expansion of the mercantile system.
Through the transition from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, as well as political literature and diplomatic advancements, the Renaissance significantly influenced modern politics. This has been proven through the conversion evidences of Charles VII and Louis XI, The Prince and Discourses on Livy by Machiavelli, and the diplomatic developments made by Machivelli and Henry VII. In the end, despite the era being only three hundred years and happening several centuries ago, the Renaissance was a key point in the modern world’s political history.
