The Racial Inequality of Blacks and Asians in America

Asian-Black relations in “Native Speaker” America has been thought of as a place represented by fairness, mixed culture, power and the dream of having a better life for everyone, whether a person is white, black, brown, and yellow. However, the truth is that racial groups have been segregated by the white-centric media or government of the American society, and that has widened the psychological and geographical distances between the two groups, Asian and black, and has encouraged ignorance and hatred. On the other hand, there are many conflicts between Asian and Black, due to their different cultures, experiences, and educational backgrounds. From the book Native Speaker, we can see how these different cultures, powers and identities deepen Asian-black mistrust, misunderstanding and ignorance, and sometimes these irreconcilable conflicts develop into hate-crimes. America is considered to be a county where white privilege is unearned, where social status is dignified and the whites are highly educated. In a society that favors one group, there are some similarities between the “people of color”, like Asian Americans and African Americans, who share an identity of struggle. Broad physical similarities, such as skin color, are now used efficiently, if also often inaccurately, to identify the difference between racial groups. However, economic, political and social forces in the US work to keep these groups separated from the privileged society. Historically, there is no doubt that the blacks were miserable and were slaves. And the Asian people were used for the cheap labor to build American structure, like road and bridge. Being in a low social status, they were hampered by segregation and inferior education. Why we can’t make a first step to acceptance and understand other racial group, and then associate together to make a stronger community. There is a complicated connection between Asian and Black. Most of Blacks are as a creator of crime, but they are also as a shopper to support your business—Asian business, without their consumption, how can you run the business. It is true that once you honor them, they would honor back. And we have to believe that everyone is at once a noble and servant and them just a man—an equal man. Therefore, in this majority society, it is very necessary for the minority to draw together, Koreans, blacks, browns, and yellows all together, to create a better acceptance and position in the U.S.
