A Critique of 'Mean Girls'

To most people the movie Mean Girls is simply a silly teen chick flick and is not good for anything but pure entrainment. Even though Mean Girls is slightly dramatized, high school in reality is perfectly portrayed through this movie. Every high school varies but there is always a domain group of students. The socially powerful are the rich and beautiful girls and everyone else are the loyal subjects to their castle. However, there is a twist in Mean Girls, the message is actually positive. Mean Girls is sending a message that women should not criticize one another to feel empowerment, it is unattractive to men to be mindless, and that White Americans have domains over other races. This movie also implies that nothing wrong with being different from what society accepts.
Mean Girls sends the message to women that they should not criticize one other to feel some type of empowerment. The way women criticize each other can be very aggressive, this act make women gives them the feeling of confident that there is someone who they consider lower than they are. When the movie Mean Girls first starts the female students of the school are continually judging and gossiping about one another. Because of this, it caused friction between the female students. Throughout the movie the consist fighting between girls gets worst. This friction causes women to feel the need to fight amongst one another. For example, The Plastics owned a book called the Burn Book where they wrote terrible things about their classmates but, once the book got out, the female students being fight even more. ...ole, the female students became close when they became true to themselves and the cliques begin to blend. For example, Gretchen, one of the Plastics became close friends with the Asian students. Social acceptance should not be the most important thing in anyone’s life. Always wanting this acceptance will cause people to change into someone they are not.
Though Mean Girls is just a movie, it has many different messages if paid close attention to they can be easily pick up. This movie sends the message on how women cannot prevail by criticizing other, social acceptance can change a person, stupidity is not going to attract the opposite sex, and that White American dominate over all race. Mean Girls purpose has been entertained the young audience of mostly pre-teen and teenage girls. Nevertheless, the messages within this movie can alter the way of think for a person.
