Before I start explaining globalization and localization from my point of view and from what I learned from the article given for the assignment, I would like to define the word.
Globalization is a term to denote that "something" is changing humankind’s preoccupation with territoriality and the traditional arrangement of the state system. Globalization is renders boundaries and identity with the land less salient, which means that it allows people, goods, information, norms, practices, and institutions to move about oblivious to or despite boundaries. It also indicates that something new in the world affairs moves most of the important activities and concerns beyond the national seats of power that have long served as the foundations of economic, political, and social life.
Meanwhile, localization is highlighting borders and intensifying the deep attachments to a place that has potential dominate emotion and reasoning. It is a boundary heightening which inhibit or prevent the movement of people, goods, information, norms, practices, and institutions.
The definitions and explanations of globalization and localization above show the difference between the two of those. They also show the disadvantages and advantages of them. Globalization opens people mind towards the new modern world that lets the opportunity for people's, culture, activities, norms, ideas, services, and currencies to be more modernize. Diplomatically, globalization creates an interaction between countries, or in other words it facilitates the expansion of authority, policies, and interests beyond existing socially constructed territorial boundaries. Economically speaking, globalization contains the enlargement of the operation of production, trade, and in...

The relative importance of the costs and benefits discussed, some of the things that are gained by globalization fundamentally is important to people’s lives. So, this means that not everyone is able to accept that globalization knowing they still keep their traditional live, and some people even combine that in order to get what is best for them. For me, what you gain from globalization and localization are important because by gaining both you’d get what’s the best for you. For example of my own, as I come from the East Asia, tradition (localization) is still important in the family but as globalization takes place these days, it is my responsibility to get what I think is good for me.
Globalization is currently shaping the world in which we live. It is based on the precept that the world is becoming a smaller place to live. This "shrinkage", so to speak, does not refer to actual land area, but rather to the space that exists between the differing peoples of the world. Globalization occurs through the unification of different nations around the world by either blending socially, culturally, politically, or economically. Social , Cultural, and Political Globalization occur when people from different nations, cultures, or walks of life come into contact with one another, and in the process, close the gap that exists between different groups of people or differing ideologies. These types of Globalization have been able to occur due to certain advancements in communication technologies that have made it possible for people all over the world to be able to communicate more easily and on a frequent basis ( Allen and Hamnet pg 59).
Globalization has varying definitions throughout the book Globalization: A Very Short Introduction. At the end of Chapter 1, a short definition was given, “ Globalization refers to the expansion and intensification of social relations and consciousness across world-time and world-space” (Pg. 15). Further definitions by multiple scholars are provided within the chapter on page 13 as well. Furthermore, Steger focuses on the four main dimensions of globalism, economic globalization, political globalization, cultural globalization, and ecological globalization. Each of these dimensions earned its own chapter within the text.
Globalization. Everyday you hear it on the news, you read it in the newspaper, and you overhear people talking about it- and in every single instance the word globalization seems to have a different meaning. When I hear of globalization I think of the whole world coming close together in all phases. I tend to think that we as human beings are breaking down barriers that have been protected or guarded. For instance, I initially thought of the progress we are making in the communication aspect. So what its globalization and its effects on the United States?
Globalisation refers to the changes in the way nations, regions, organisations, groups and individuals interact across national borders (Rondinelli and Behrman, 2000). It is an ongoing process that gradually eliminates national and regional preferences and ultimately turns the world into a single market place (Levitt, 1983) through international trade in goods and services, cross-border flows of capital and exchange of technology (Nunnenkamp et al, 1994)
To understand globalization it is necessary to understand its core meaning. Globalization is a process. It is a process of international integration resulting from the exchange of cultural aspects, which may include ideas and products. It can be for the good or the bad, though, as the author Anthony Kugler suggests by saying, “Globalization means, above all that a single event — whether it's the outbreak of a new disease or a new medical breakthrough — now has the potential to affect everyone around the world almost immediately”.
Globalization is an umbrella term for complex senses of economies, social and technological culture and political change that increase the independence integration and interaction between people and business in disparate locations.it can be also known as the shrinking of the time and space.
For one to understand the costs and benefits of globalization and localization, one first needs to understand what each entails. Globalization is when a country involves itself in international affairs, economically, politically or even possibly culturally. Globalization expands beyond the local boundaries of a nation and spreads into other communities throughout the world. Localization is when a country chooses not to participate in global affairs and confines itself and its people from taking part in any type of involvement with any other country. This means that this country does not participate in any economic, political or cultural issues with outsiders.
Globalization is the highest stage of internationalization, where the broader representation under it means the totality of processes and phenomena such as trans-border flows of goods, services, capital, technology, information, cross-country movement of people, and prevalence of orientation to the world market in trade, investment and other transactions territorial and institutional integration of markets.
Globalization is a process whereby international integration which is derived from the exchange of world opinions or views, ideas, products and various national cultures. Human communities all over the world have aggressively established closer ties over the years and grown faster recently. Globalization itself could be broken down to four major sectors; Globalization of the Economy, Globalization of Politics, Globalization of Culture and Globalization of Law. The dictionary does describe Globalization also as “… the act of extending to other or all parts of world”. This worldwide integration and development as seen by others is as positive as it could be in many ways. The world as we know it today has come a long way; in regards to the historic
There are so many more advantages and disadvantages to globalization. Globalization while not perfect does offer positive benefits such as improving global economy by providing employment opportunities for under-developed and poor countries. It also provides opportunities for producers by making a profit and the consumer being able to purchase a wide variety of products. Unity is what brings this world together and while globalization is not the perfect system, like it or not, it has already affected the world globally, which is why I feel strongly that globalization is positive for the
Globalization has been more significant nowadays. Many of the large firms are truly global and even some small organization increasingly participate in cross border activities. Globalization has offer many opportunities and challenges to individual managers, businesses and governments. The expansion of global market has created a need for managers who are familiar to the problems of international trade and finance such as culture, technology, foreign exchange and political structure. The trend toward a single global economy is expanding markets and providing opportunities to managers.today, countries are going to work together as more of a global economy.
Herman E. Daly argues that sometimes the terms internationalization and globalization are used interchangeably but there is a slight formal difference. The term "internationalization" refers to the importance of international trade, relations, treaties etc. International means between or among nations. "Globalization" means erasure of national boundaries for economic purposes; international trade (governed by comparative advantage) becomes interregional trade (governed by absolute advantage).[
The term globalization is one that is an exceptionally wide-ranging term and it is used to explain a wide variety of definitions. Many people link the term globalization with the how the world is connected on an international and a local scale. One example of this is how Inda and Rosaldo illustrate globalization as being in “a world full of movement and mixture, contact and linkages, and persistent cultural interaction and exchange” (Inda and Rosaldo 4). On the other hand, they also imply that although movement and connections are prime components of globalization, disconnection and exclusion also form globalization (Inda and Rosaldo 30). Global flows of economic and social structures are not fluid and constant; they have the power to exclude and immobilize as well as enhance movement and include certain beings. In the 60s, the term `global village' was used by Ma...
Globalization is a driving force that accumulates all countries under a common network of economic and trading system. It can be referred as a set of social processes that transform a country’s individualistic identity to a global entity. Globalization refers to the interdependency among the countries in a way that incidents of foreign countries can have a footprint on local incidents or vice versa. Globalization widens the communication among countries, enlarge the market and countries undertake economical activities beyond their physical boundaries. In whatever way the term globalization is conceived, Steger(2003:12) stated that, globalization has four distinct characteristics. First, globalization creates new and multiply existing social network. Second, it expands social relation, activities and interdependencies. Third, it amplifies and accelerates the exchange of information, materials and activities. Fourth, it transforms people’s consciousness to global
Globalization is can also defined as the extension of social relations across world-space, defining that world-space in terms of the historically variable ways that it has been practised and socially
