Not enough thought or care is put into promotion and award ceremonies; they should be done on an individual basis, and the conduct of the ceremony should be left completely up to the individual. Promotion ceremonies are often done In a mass formation with one warrant and a list of names read off. Most of the award ceremonies I have seen were just lumped in with a promotion ceremony. With so little effort put into reward and promotion ceremonies, why is every reenlistment done on a case by case basis and left completely up to the individual?
Promotion ceremonies should be done completely on an individual basis. The Marine being promoted should be able to choose the size formation he wants to be pinned in front of, whether its a platoon, company, or battalion size. By choosing the size of formation they should also be able to choose what level commander is reading their warrant to them, as they can choose the marine or sometimes even a civilian to pin them. Staff Sergeant Clinton Kuhn was promoted while on the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, regardless of what he wanted his formation...
Leaders in the United States Marine Corps are earned, not given. When approaching members in the Marine, customs and courtesies say that it is important to salute because it not only is a regulation set by the Marine Corps, but also a way to recognize other Marine’s commitments while showing professionalism. “The salute isn't simply an honor exchanged; it's a privileged gesture of respect and trust among military members.” The salute is a way to express pride in your profession and it is required to salute when meeting and acknowledging an officer’s presence. Along with saluting, other military courtesies show appreciation and self-discipline shown in a Marine’s actions or in their speech. Many reasons, such as respect are why these courtesies are important and are applied in the military. In my opinion, I think the respect that is enforced with customs and courtesies is extremely important. It lets a Marine show that they know what proper gestures to do and they know the difference between right and wrong in the United States Marine Corps. It also shows how a Marine is suppose to be and act at all times, no matter what setting they’re
We're always asked if officers are doing anything else, you can win award without, involved outside division, shows the kind of person he is, involved in wrestling program, teaching them how to be young men and young ladies, how to work hard and how to survive, positive impact on children. Volunteering, he actually cares. Takes time to talk to all the kids before and after practice. To me, I like that. Takes time to talk and actually listen to them.
...ers Date of Rank. The user can also laterally promote someone to a different rank but within the same grade. This function also provides two different reports that are used to determine if a Soldier is eligible for promotion to the next grade by attending a promotion board.
Growing up my parents always taught my sister and I that we should always be grateful for what we had. Take care of all our toys and expensive things that they brought us. They taught us that you have to work hard for what you want and nothing is handed to you. Even though me and my sister always got what wanted we also knew that we worked for it and that made getting it even better. I believe my parents raised me pretty good. I always respected them and knew my limits, me and my sister had chores we had to do and if they weren't done by the end of the week we would have a consequence. This taught us responsibility and that in the real world if you don't do your job you would be fired or there would be a consequence you would have to pay. Lately I have noticed that a lot of kids in today's society are very ungrateful. They feel entitled and believe that they shouldn't have to work for anything. They think things should just be handed to them without any questions asked. I think I have a way to stop this rising trait in today's youth.
My leadership can expect a top tier performer who strives to be one of the most competent Non-commissioned Officer’s within the unit. I will do this by adhering to the regulations, unit sop’s and any other guidance which governs my section. I will ensure my soldiers do the same, holding them to strict but attainable standards and expecting nothing less. I will teach, coach, counsel, and mentor these soldiers-teaching them what a leader is and grooming them to be leaders also.
It is what makes us the most powerful army in the world. Army believes “Unit training and leader development are the Army’s life-blood. Army leaders train units to be versatile. They develop subordinate leaders—military and Army civilians—to be competent, confident, agile, and adaptive.” (Training Units and Developing Leaders, 2012) We are trained to teach our soldiers to understand their level of task and then at least one to two above them. Warrant officer play a key role into this. Warrant Officer are expected to give in-depth knowledge to Non commission officer and junior enlist on MOS skill. Then they are expected to teach young officer how properly run and manage their assets while bridging the technical aspect so they can make inform decisions. I think in the past this was not the case but it has been getting better throughout the years. With the responsibility of training soldiers, warrant Officer are task to give advice as
There are two different paths a young Marine can go through in the Marine Corps...those are the Enlied and Officer. The Enlisted path starts when a young Marine goes through basic training from either Paris Island in South Carolina or Camp Pendleton in California. The Enlisted ranks start with Private and ends with either Sergeant Major, Master Gunnery Sergeant, and The highest Enlisted rank which is given to one Marine is Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps which is the advisor of the Commandant of the Marine Corps. Officer ranks start with Warrant officer, and Warrant Officers are previous Enlisted Marines that are promoted to officer ranks and end at Chief Warrant Officer 5. Regular Officer Ranks Begin with 2nd Lt. and end with a 4 star General...one 4 star General will be appointed Commandant of the United States Marine Corps and he or she is the Highest authority in the Marine
Thank you for considering me for induction into the James Monahan Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. I have been looking to join this society ever since I heard about it and have been trying my best so I can. I believe that I demonstrate the qualities of service, leadership, and character and would be a great addition to the National Junior Honor Society.
The same idea of an unwavering hierarchy that extends beyond title and into the deep roots of merit are inherent in both concepts. Even dealing with other branches of service, there are certain expectations to be upheld when dealing with an officer, a senior enlisted, and even with your peers. Officers are saluted by enlisted members, just as junior enlisted members stand at parade rest when addressing Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO). This level of respect would continue on into a civilian environment, although no saluting would be present in civilian attire. For example, a lower enlisted member could be at a restaurant or a bar over the weekend and happen to see his Company Commander. Even out of the work environment and military setting, the should still subtly take each other’s rank into account with everything said, such as a “Sir” every now and then from the enlisted member as well as avoiding certain comments that could get a soldier in trouble when dealing with his Chain of Command. This same level of military bearing will also carry on into encounters with civilians as military members and prior service member can almost always be spotted in a crowd with relative ease. Bearing can be taught at a basic level, but one must have the initiative to follow the guidance set before them and behave a certain
Our education system faces a myriad of questions. One of which is, what is the main objective of our education system: to graduate students at a high academic standard, to graduate students who can interact socially, or to prepare students wholly in order to become contributing members of society? Parents, school districts, and the government all have their own ideas as to the primary purpose. The means (education) to the end (producing educated citizens) can take many roads or methods. One method goes down the road of social promotion. However, the unpopular practice of social promotion in our schools does not prepare our children academically. It promotes low standards, accepts mediocrity, and gives a false hope of success in a world which is unforgiving towards the uneducated.
*Customs and Courtesies: Over the last month you have been talked to on two different occasions about you not going to parade rest and calling NCOs by their rank. SPC Warburton, this is not acceptable, you need to show the same respect that you would want when you become a future leader.
...e reasoning behind how we lead should not change no matter what environment we are in. Troops listen and absorb our demeanor no matter what disposition we display. When Leaders fail to take initiative as problems present themselves in the rear, junior marines observe this complacent attitude and accept indecisive attitudes that decrease the unit’s ability to problem solve and act as issues arise. Breaking down our role as Marines we are expected and known by the outside world as hard charging, fearless men who ruthlessly wage and win wars by crushing our opponents with relentless force. However, with the ever evolving Marine Corps and the vast differences in MOS and job training we have to hold these Marines accountable, and in order to do so we must continue our long tradition of confident men, who trust their own skills and who make decisions without hesitation.
Reward Management (RM) has been defined as the distribution of monetary and non-monetary rewards to employees in an effort to align the interests of the employees, the organisation, and its shareholders (O’Neil, 1998). In addition O’Neil (1998) also suggests that a RM system can serve the purpose of attracting prospective job applicants, retaining valuable employees, motivating employees, ensuring legal requirements relating to direct and indirect rewards are not violated, assisting the company in achieving human resource and business objectives, and ultimately assisting the organisation in obtaining a competitive advantage.
Internal promotions and a higher place in the hierarchical level should push people to strive for recognition.
In my time both as an NCO and as a Warrant Officer, I have seen that my basic responsibilities and competencies have always remained the same, namely to be a leader to my subordinates. So many of us try to draw some huge distinction between our time as an NCO and as a WO. I say there is no difference beyond the level at which we lead and the level of the people we directly influence.
