Many diverse experiences have helped to shape my professional marketing career. These positions range from promoting Broadway shows, to marketing at the global children's entertainment brand Pokémon, and managing a girl’s brand called My Princess Academy. While my professional experiences have provided me with a strong real world foundation, I feel that in order to pursue my goal of managing a major entertainment brand, I require the knowledge and training afforded by an MBA program. I am confident that my professional experiences coupled with an MBA will help me achieve a vibrant career in marketing management.
After receiving my undergraduate degrees in theater and business, I began my career with a firm that promoted Broadway shows. I initially focused my efforts on helping theater producers build audiences, sell group tickets and develop theater membership programs. While working on audience development for the Broadway show Avenue Q, I discovered my passion for entertainment marketing, and decided that I wanted to focus on it full time.
With my new found passion, I accepted a marketing position at the flagship store Pokemon Center as the Events Promotions Manager marketing the store to tourists and residents of the tri-state area. My responsibilities included developing and executing marketing plans and working with store management to develop promotions. Additionally, I developed unique promotional events for several new products and video game launches.
Within nine months in my role, I was promoted to a work with the Vice President of Marketing as part of the national marketing team. In this role, I focused on developing national marketing plans to support the launch of the new Pokémon character series across our vid...

These diverse experiences have helped me hone my passion for children’s marketing and shape my professional career. Each new accomplishment has built upon another and has led me to a position where I manage all the marketing and brand management components of building a new brand. While I continue to garner practical experience in my current role, I feel I have reached the point in my career where a formal education in marketing is essential to my continued success. By undertaking an MBA program, I hope to not only grow in my current role, but also to one day be head of a national children’s entertainment brand. I am confident that my experiences at both Pokémon and My Princess Academy will allow me to contribute a unique perspective to virtual classroom discussions and serve to make me an excellent candidate for the Florida online MBA program.
The Entertainment Industry is an expanding industry with numerous career opportunities especially for the quick learning students in today’s world. I chose to study the entertainment industry because I have always had a passion for it. I grew up with music always playing on the radio and if the radio was off, the television was tuned into some show. I know many people listen to music and watch television all the time, but there is so much more to this industry. Being so passionate has led me to studying specific things in the industry and learning the ins and outs of it, which is helping me to find a potential career. There are many people in the industry that I look up to and one person, who has made it in particular, is Debra Rathwell.
...ctions and concessions manager a long with a general and first assistant manager. I have learned from this assignment that there is so much that goes into the creation and success of a major corporation. I would consider the corporate aspect of this job a career, but the lower end of this job as more of an experience-building job due to the work ethic required to be successful as a cast member and manager. Regal Entertainment Group is able to compensate for declining movie attendance by increasing their ticket prices, which ahs proved successful thus far. This corporation employs millions, and it is a good business.
At the start of this module, I had no idea what to expect. When I heard the term “Marketing”, only one thing came to my mind: presentations. When I used to be in school, I remembered vaguely that my presentation skills weren’t exactly even close to Suze Orman, who is considered to be America’s most motivational speaker. In fact, they were so bad, I wasn’t sure of doing this course in the beginning. But then it wasn’t like I had a choice. I had opted for BA Hons. Business Management and the course came along with a module named Marketing.

They have demonstrated that mid-level marketing managers within Higher Education view individual commitment to the selected strategy, as well as the perceived significance of their role in implementation, as critical factors to role performance, and ultimately program success. An example of how this all came together was the Chartwell Senior Star competition – an American Idol for seniors. A seven-year national TV special, as the In-house Producer and Creative Director. I was responsible for the print and online promotion, in-house production and venue coordination as well as approving the final edits for broadcast. This project was a unique vehicle that generated the highest amount of earned media in the history of Chartwell, and directly translated to higher brand
I focused on in-store sales and specials, as well as promotions with other local businesses, all communicated through social media. I also proposed a strategic partnership with Lounsbury House that would be beneficial to both involved parties.
Over the year big businesses have taken control of the world’s economy, but success didn’t come easily. As Razor Suleman said in his article, “Success in a business happens because of successful employees, successful business managers.”(1) Something that I learned as the time pass is that when we grow we pick up things from the world; things that stay with us and make us who we are. When I was a child , I remember dreaming about having my own marketing company. A company where I, as the business manager, could take control of it and do wonderful things. My inspiration came from my parents. They are probably one of the best non degreed business manager. Being so close to them gave me the motivation to want to become a business manager.
