America is one of the most obese countries in the world, with so many technologies making life easier for people no wonder why so many people are gaining weight in larger amounts than in the past. There are endless amounts of things people do to get out of doing actual physical work. An example would be the grocery store down the street. 9/10 people would most likely drive 1 mile down the road instead of getting up and going for a nice walk. Another technological advancement is the computer, Television, and the biggest one, video games. Kids and even adults seem to just stay indoors way more than just going outside and playing sports with their friends or family. America is slowly becoming the most obese and laziest nation in the world, what a great reputation the most powerful country in the world is getting isn’t it. Although there are a lot of lazy people out there, there are good amounts who venture out of their homes to go to the gym. People think they will become fit and healthy just because they’re going for at least an hour and running and lifting some weights. But going to the gym once or twice a week and not keeping a steady pace schedule and changing things up week to week will not get anyone to their peak physical levels. Now don’t get me wrong, going to the gym is progress and will get people healthier, but if someone wants to reach higher potential, lose weight and gain muscle then there are more things that someone needs to do in order to get a the full effect of a healthy workout each and every day. Staying healthy and fit can always be a challenge, but there are a vast majority of ways that an individual can do other things and not just going to the gym to maintain and healthy weight and life style. Let’s star... ... middle of paper ... ...r limited to one choice. There should be no reason why a trip to a fast food restaurant is your only solution. Some people think that getting healthy and fit is hard but if you really set your mind to it and give yourself weekly goals there are no reason why someone shouldn’t be able to do it. From walking to the grocery store or taking a stroll around the park, to running miles and lifting weights at the gym there is always a workout routine that suits anyone all sizes all ages. Staying indoors and being lazy should just be out of the question for everyone. Getting out there and doing at least a little bit of physical activity and eating healthy will ensure a longevity life with great moods and good self confidence. This is something the TV cannot do so getting out there and being active is a must for everyone to get the most out of their bodies and lifestyles.
Obesity has been a growing problem in America. With the leading cause of it is in our diet and the kind of foods we part take of everyday and they lifestyles that we all choose to live. The everyday habits and practices, that have been imbedded our every day routines. The American routine has become so lazy and self reliant on getting what we want and need at an instant that it has caused us to be over weight. We have all become so used to getting instant gratification, that it has been imbedded in our head that, why work for to get our food when we can go to a restaurant of our choosing and just pick out food. Especially with such a fast growing society that we live in everything moves so fast, We are all expected to keep up with
America has now become the fattest nation in the world…. Nearly 100 million Americans are now overweight or obese. That's more than 60% of all U.S. adults. Since 1980, the total number of overweight Americans has doubled, with twice as many overweight children, and three times as many overweight adolescents.
What does it mean to be healthy? Is it a number on the scale, the size pants a person wears, being able to run a mile or is it something that cannot be seen by the naked eye? America has become the fattest nation and the most delusional at how to truly be healthy. With so many people striving to lose weight the focus has shifted from getting healthy to who can lose the most weight in the shortest amount of time. Reality shows like “The Biggest Loser” has glorified extreme weight loss and has given viewers unrealistic expectations when trying to lose weight and get healthy. Society today has become obsessed with physical appearance, specifically a person’s weight that the mind automatically assumes a thin person is in better health than someone who is overweight. The truth is actually the complete opposite.
Studies have linked obesity to many things from ear infections, to pollution, to air-conditioning, to socializing with obese people. The reason Americans are obese is because of the increasing luxury available to them. Obesity is a rising problem in the United States, and with all the privileges given to its citizens, the country has become increasingly lazy. With portion sizes rising and physical activity decreasing, it is easy to see how obesity rates have skyrocketed.
The thought of sitting around all day, not being productive and watching television sounds pleasurable; however, it is not even remotely healthy. Modern day Americans have become accustomed to being unproductive and watching TV for long periods of time while simultaneously eating junk food. Whether it be talking on the phone with mother or consuming a greasy pizza on the sofa, sitting down and not enduring any physical activity can lead to obesity. Also, American elementary schools have been serving children unhealthy meals and they are consuming more fat than they are fruits or vegetables. Americans need to change school’s menus, reduce the price of gym memberships, and discard the use of false advertisements.
In the past decades, America has changed in big ways. By "big ways", I literally mean big. America is fat. People in America are not just chubby, they are fat. There are many factors that have caused the obesity in America. The cause that is seen as the leading producer of fat Americans is fast food. There are countless fast food places available for people, and they are cheaper than healthy meal ingredients at the local supermarket. Another issue is gyms. Every person is expeditious to join a gym because in their minds, they are about to produce a variance in themselves. However, that is very contradicting. People waste money on gym memberships because they never go. They are either intimidated by it, or they are just too slothful to go. Finally, everyone is quick to try the new diet plan or take a weight loss supplement pill. However, they usually either don't stick to the diet, or the diet just doesn't work on normal people. America is fat and we can thank these reasons for it.We need a plan to put America back in shape.
Obesity rates have skyrocketed within the last 10-20 years. This is in direct correlation with the diet and exercise habits of cultures. As cultures begin to incorporate different culture’s cuisines into their own cultures, the obesity rate starts to increase. This is most likely caused by their heritage history being accustomed to their culture’s cuisine history. Then diet and exercise come into play as well. We live in a time where technology has almost taken over our lives. In modern day, we can drive wherever we need to go, we do not have to walk everywhere anymore; we do not have to even go to the grocery store anymore because Amazon.com has now made their website into a grocery store in select parts of the country where we pick what we need online and it is delivered to our house. This program is set to go nationwide soon, and eventually globally. This is the epitome of laziness and why different cultures are becoming obese; especially America. Diet and exercise have almost become a thing of the past in America. Yes, there is still a large amount of humans that still exercise daily, but not the average American. The most active age group, worldwide, is 22-34 year olds with an average salary of $20,000 or less (Thompson 2013). Cultures such as the Native Americans, Mexicans, Chileans, and the culture that tops the list; Americans, are among the world’s most obese cultures (Downey 2011).
People spend millions of dollars every year on drugs that they are convinced that will help you lose weight, grow hair, reduce stress, anxiety, and plenty of other things. I wish I could have all of the money they have wasted on those products. What if they knew of something that would help them lose weight, improve cardiovascular health, help control stress, help improve muscle, bone, and joint health, benefit diabetic problems, and could do many other things to benefit their health? Exercise is something that is proven to help all of these things, but not a lot of people exercise on a regular basis. This is something that you do not have to pay for, so what is stopping everyone from exercising? There are many positive effects of exercising and very little negative effects. I wonder how much a pill that helped all of those things would set you back?
adults are obese (“Adult Obesity Facts”). An estimated one third of school aged children are overweight or obese as well (Childhood Obesity Facts”). A country that is supposed to be healthy should contain citizens that are in fine feather alike. Everyday, people are forgetting what it feels like to be healthy, and/or live a healthy lifestyle. They are losing motivation to keep their bodies in shape; the only motivation they have is to get up and drive to the nearest McDonald’s. America is headed for dystopia, and it seems as if people are becoming too lazy to try and stop it.
The invasion of technology has long been assumed to contribute to the large number of Americans who are considered overweight and do not get an adequate amount of daily physical activity. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the United States has experienced a dramatic increase in the number of Americans who can be classified as obese. More than one-third of adults in the United States and approximately 17% of children and adolescents aged 2-19 years are considered obese ("Obesity and Overweight," 2012). However, the number of unhealthy Americans is not the only thing rising.
All in all, the rise of the fitness industry has impacted almost everyone in America, whether it means being more health conscious, body conscious, or fitness-a-phobic. This new fitness movement, if it continues growing at the rate it has been, will keep coming out with innovative ways to motivate the unmotivated into leading more active lifestyles. Ultimately this will lead to an American public that enjoys longer, healthier lives.
Exercise is a good and easy way to stay healthy and more in shape. It does not take a whole lot of work but it does take some motivation. I know that it can be hard to leave that recliner when your favorite show comes on but there are still ways to exercise during shows. During the
