Introduction
When we talk about poverty, we always relate poverty to poor living conditions or low standard of living. Poverty is an issue that happens all over the world, especially developing countries. We know about poverty issues by reading newspaper and watching television. In general, poverty is known as lack of money, food and shelter. But the perception of different people towards poverty differently. Malaysia, as a developing country, poverty is an unavoidable problem. Poverty is increasing when the standard of living is increasing. As we all know, there are a lot of family cannot meet their basic needs such as food, clothing and housing. Therefore, they face many different problems and challenges sustain their living. In some views, rich people live in urban areas and poor people live in rural areas. On the other hand, poverty is linked to villages. Public community’s perceptions towards people who live in villages are low-educated and low-earning people. They engage in farming, aquaculture and agricultural sector. At the same time, engaging of these sectors are still in the condition of small-scale and smallholding. In addition, the families live in minimal standard of living due to low ability of earning money. As a result of low education possession, the earning for the family is instability and low-income. However, poor family brings effect to their children, especially academic achievement in school. If making a comparison between rich students and poor students, higher academic achievement is always scored by rich students. ...reakfast is not a necessary, rather save parent money for buying breakfast. Therefore, such students go to schools with hungry condition. Due to this situation, they are unable to focus or even concentrate in studying. Tiredness and hunger cause them performs low concentration of studying. However, poor families cannot help them in studying or revision because low-educated or lack of knowledge. In order to improve their academic achievement, sending their children to tuition class will be the best choice. But also, financial problem, paying tuition fee is considered. In contrast, poor family much encourage their children to work instead of studying. It is a solution for family financial problem through supportive money by their children. In this case, students are harder to make a balance between studying and working. The education has been ignored by their family.
