Prisoners, a thriller about two little girls that were abducted is the greatest action thriller ever. Dying for answers Keller takes matters into his own hands. How far would you go to protect your children? Prisoners is an action film full of suspense. Prisoners plot is so unpredictable, never allowing you to correctly guess what will happen next. The actors fit their roles perfect. This is why the movie is so successful and why it is the best movie ever.
Written by Aaron Guzikowski and directed by Denis Villeneuve. Prisoners was filmed in Conyers, Porterdale and Atlanta all in Georgia. The film was released on September 20th, 2013. The film has some well known actors in it such as Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Terrence Howard,Viola Davis and Maria Bello. The film won the Hollywood Film Award for Supporting Actor of the Year: Jake Gyllenhaal, as well as Toronto International Film Festival in 2013. Winning 3rd place for the People’s Choice Award: Denis Villeneuve.
The plot of the movie starts out in the woods as Keller Dover and his son Ralph Dover are deer hunting on Thanksgiving. Keller is teaching Ralph how to hunt incase of a disaster in which he would need to use survival skills. The movie then takes you to the Dover household in a suburban neighborhood. It was very cold and rainy. The Dover’s were getting ready to go to a the Birch household for Thanksgiving dinner that evening. The Dover family starts to head out of the house when the their daughter Anna realizes she has still not found her whistle. Parents Keller and Grace tell Anna not to worry about it they have to go. Throughout the whole movie the audience was kept on the edge of their seats. Holly was never expected to be the kidnapper. The plot was intense and unpredictable. Visuals during the movie are so graphic and real. This movie makes you put yourself into the plot, always asking yourself what would you do if you were in Keller and Franklin’s shoes. Prisoners is a action filled, heart wrenching and a true life scenario that could happen to anyone. It teaches a lesson to always be prepared for the worst and to keep a watchful eye on your kids, there are sick people in the world we live in that do sick and unbelievable things.
The short documentary video “Prisoners of Silence” focuses on neurodevelopmental disorders with a clear emphasis on autism. It further delves into the rather controversial method of treatment for autism known as facilitated communication, which was first developed in the early 1990s. The video follows the introduction and ultimately the downfall of such a treatment as controversy quickly ensues after a series of sexual abuse cases and ample scientific evidence are produced.
After reading the book I have gained a new understanding of what inmates think about in prison. Working in an institution, I have a certain cynical attitude at times with inmates and their requests. Working in a reception facility, this is a facility where inmates are brought in from the county jails to the state intake facility, we deal with a lot of requests and questions. At times, with the phone ringing off the hook from family members and inmates with their prison request forms, you get a little cynical and tired of answering the same questions over and over. As I read the book I begin to understand some of the reason for the questions. Inmate(s) now realize that the officers and administrative personnel are in control of their lives. They dictate with to get up in the morning, take showers, eat meals, go to classes, the need see people for different reason, when to exercise and when to go to bed. The lost of control over their lives is a new experience for some and they would like to be able to adjust to this new lost of freedom. Upon understanding this and in reading the book, I am not as cynical as I have been and try to be more patient in answering questions. So in a way I have changed some of my thinking and understanding more of prison life.
The group of inmates, without the presence of Irwin, wasn’t very cohesive and though they were classified as a single group in the eyes of Colonel Winter, the prison’s warden, they acted as individuals and only looked out for themselves. Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction is one of the most daring, puzzling, and ultimately exciting pieces of cinema to hit the screen in years. As wholly original as it is a copy of hundreds of films before it about tales of hit-men and criminals, it dares you to step out of the dull and enter a colorful, exhilarating world that could only be Los Angeles. The intensity level of the movie is off the scale. People are laughing like crazy in the theater to the intelligent dialog and other scenes that have the audience gasping for air in shock over what just happened. Although one might say that Pulp Fiction is overly violent and disturbing, it is in fact, one of the greatest movies ever produced. Quentin Tarantino’s incredible screenplay, the intensity of the actors, and music to set the mood, created movie worthy five stars.

Sykes acknowledges the fact that his observations are generalizations but he feels that most inmates can agree on feelings of deprivation and frustration. As he sketches the development of physical punishment towards psychological punishment, Sykes follows that both have an enormous effect on the inmate and do not differ greatly in their cruelty.
The men who played the role of prisoner, like the guards, were selected at random. The harassment they endured, while all voluntary, was by any means less than humane. They were treated with very little respect, and denied basic rights, such as use of the restroom, and were forced to sleep on cold concrete floors for many nights as a form of punishment. On August 14, 1971, the twelve men that were given the role as “prisoner” were arrested without warning and taken to the police station on charges of burglary and armed robbery in front of their family and friends. There they were processed, fingerprinted and photographed, by the police. Then were blindfolded as they were transferred to the mock prison that was built in one of the basement of a campus building. They were deloused, had their heads shaven, and given their uniform and ID number and then placed in a cell as they would in a real prison setting. The other twelve men were the “guards”, those men were given a guard’s uniform, sunglasses, and a baton. Their orders only being to do what they thought was necessary to keep order in the prison but not to use any kind of violence. Freedom in any society is a condition that is directly correlated to the compliance of society’s rules, regulations, and laws. This right afforded to citizens under the constitution is surrendered by those who choose to disregard and trample on the set of standards and behavior needed for a society to maintain order and avoid anarchy. When loss of freedom is the tool used to punish this segment of society, prisons become the instrumentality used to carry out the various freedom restrictions under the law for each individual. Citizens who find themselves incarcerated in prison will be exposed to an entirely different environment than those in free society. In addition, there is a psychological impact on those being reintroduced into society after having completed long-term sentences, an impact many believe contribute to the high recidivism rates in the United States. The criminal justice system with all of its connected inner workings may not address all of the concerns inside and out of our current prison system, but just as we have improved on our prisons from the past, we will continue to improve and implement new techniques and design precise programs in our future prisons.

There is a lot of parts that make a prison operate. From the generators to give out power to the building, to the janitors to keep the building clean and the mail room to sort and pass out the mail that’s comes through. But there is three key parts that make a prison function. One of those parts is; the outside fencing and barbwire that’s wrapped around the building. Without it inmates are able to come and go when they please. No boundaries are set making the jail pointless. A second key part is the commanding officer. His job is to control the inmates on what they do. The officer knows what the inmates are doing through the day, meaning if an inmate did something the officer knows about it. Lastly the holding cell.
