Diana Ross was born in 1944. Emerging from the housing projects in Detroit to become an international superstar, she gained prominence first as a member of the supremes, then as a solo artist. The mention of her name evokes the indelible image of the broadly smiling diva, the long hair, sequined gowns, etc.
She spent her childhood with her parents in a friendly environment. Her father was a real estate developer and her mother was Psychologist. About her early life, when she was nine years old her parents divorced and she started staying with her mother.
Shirley Temple was born on April 23, 1928, in Santa Monica, California at 9:00 p.m - a time significant to her because it told her she would always have a bit of catching up to do if she wanted to be on time for dinner (Black 5). As the youngest child and only girl in her family of five, she was her mother’s pride and joy. She had two supportive parents, Gertrude and George, and two older brothers, Jack and George Junior. Gertrude Temple was a stay-at-home mom while George went to work as a bank teller, which played in Shirley’s favor when she needed someone to manage her money later in life (Blashfield 55). Gertrude Temple has been called the first stage mother (Blashfield 22) for good reason. Shirley Temple was acting before she could read, so her mother helped her memorize her lines. Temple’s mother served as her private costume designer, and never failed to make the young star’s performance her best yet, by encouraging her to “Sparkle, Shirley Sparkle!” (David 2).
British princess. Born August 21, 1930, at Glamis Castle in Scotland, as the second daughter of King George VI of the United Kingdom (who ruled from 1937 to his death in 1952) and sister of Queen Elizabeth II (1952--). In the early 1950s, the romance between Margaret—then third in line to the throne after her sister’s two children, Charles and Anne—and Group Captain Peter Townsend, a highly decorated World War II fighter pilot and recent divorcé, caused quite a scandal both within and outside of the British royal family.

Most of us know Miss Diana Ross, an African American performer. Her acting and singing career is what lead her to fame. She goes by the nickname of Miss Ross. Here is something you may not know, her birth name is Diane Ernestine Earle Ross. However her birth certificate says Diana. She was born and raised here in Detroit, Michigan. Where most babies in Detroit are delivered so was she, Hutzel Women’s Hospital. On March 26, 1944 a star entered the city with much more potential than anyone would have ever expected. She lived near the North End area of Detroit (woodward) and later moved to the Brewster projects. Miss Diana Ross attended a high school all Detroit citizens are familiar with, Cass Technical HS. Diana, the youngest in her family of four, remained close to the Royal Family of Britain even at a young age. She may not of been royalty in her younger years, but she came from a wealthy family; “Born Diana Spencer on July 1, 1961, Princess Diana became Lady Diana Spencer after her father inherited the title of Earl Spencer in 1975” (“Princess”). Diana had a noble birth because she came from such an aristocratic background. Diana became a public icon and the press, along with her people, loved her. In Diana’s childhood her mother and father divorced, her father won the custody battle of all four children. Not until later did Diana go on to marry Prince Charles, the ceremony took place on July 29,
Even twenty years after her death, the world continues to remember the princess who perpetually remembered them. Princess Diana lived as one of the most influential figures of the 20th Century. She devoted her life in the spotlight to bring recognition to causes that she felt others should care about, such as AIDS, homelessness, leprosy, and landmine removal. Diana believed that love and kindness served as the remedy for any sort of suffering. She once stated in an interview with BBC journalist, Martin Bashir, “I think the biggest disease this world suffers from in this day and age is the disease of people feeling unloved. I know that I can give love for a minute, for half an hour, for a day, for a month—I’m very happy to do that and I want to do that” (Roisin Kelly). While the matter remains certain that people were initially starstruck having a princess in their midst, it is undoubtedly Diana’s kindness that attracted and continued to attract beings to her presence. She held the hands of those deemed unsafe to touch and broke down stigmas in the process. Diana became a hero for those who had no one to speak up for them, or the trials they endured, through simple acts of kindness, such as a warm smile or a gentle handshake. While Diana aided those around her, she herself desperately craved love and kindness, as discussed in the following quote from the New York Times’ Article, “Diana in Search of Herself”. “Indeed, Diana's unstable temperament bore all the markings of one of the most elusive psychological disorders: the borderline personality. This condition is characterized by an unstable self-image; sharp mood swings; fear of rejection and abandonment; an inability to sustain relationships; persistent feelings of loneliness, boredom, and emptiness; depression; and impulsive behavior such as binge eating and
Princess Diana once said,“I would like to be a queen in the hearts of the people.”, and if there is anything she has done it has been to take over our hearts with her compassion and generosity. Princess Diana dedicated her life to helping others and using her fame to do it. She was humane and humble never seeing herself above others, even as royalty. This considerate woman would show up to hospitals just to talk and encourage people with her kind words. Princess Diana supported more than 100 charities in her lifetime, although she mostly impacted AIDS/HIV patients and landmine usage.

She had a passion for taking care of children. She grew up knowing the Royal family quite well. Princess Diana’s younger brother is the Queen’s godson. Morton also talks about Princess Diana’s relationship with Prince Charles. Princess Diana married Prince Charles, King of Wales, on July 29, 1981. It was said that the Prince married Diana just because she fit the part. The part in which every Princess has to fit: has not been married, is Protestant, and is a virgin. Diana was the first English woman to marry the heir of the throne since 1959. With Diana being in the media so much it was hard to do anything without the press knowing about it.
