The Writing Process
Writing can be a very difficult process for those who do not know how to go about constructing
a work of writing. I have my own ideas on how I think the writing process should be done.
Time and good ideas will make for a good paper because when I begin writing a paper or an
essay I take a day to think of all the possibilities to write about. If I am lucky if I have the chance
to come up with my own ideas rather than have them given to me, but if that is not the case then I
follow my simple steps to get through with my work .
To start off, I remember that it may take awhile until I am sure on what I am going to
write about for the topic. It is all right to change the subject many times if I absolutely have to.
Absolutely do not start out writing the paper with the opening or ending paragraph. It is best to
do the end and beginning paragraphs once I have finished completing and editing the entire
paper.
First of all I sit down where I can really concentrate on my topic, and I make outlines. I
start off with numbers and label them what the topic of the paragraph is going to be about. After I
finish figuring out what each paragraph will be about, I then go in subdivisions on the details that
will be included in each specific paragraph. This will help to avoid getting off of the subject and
the paper will be in a good order.
After finishing the outline, I go on to start writing down ideas that are at the top of my

Write the thesis statement of your research paper. Be sure to write it in one or two complete sentences.
Typical outlines aren't the only way I prepare to write my papers. I often tend to simply start writing random paragraphs about my subject, in no particular order, and slowly begin to bu...
I am sitting in my bed, thinking about my process of writing as I am trying to go through it. It seems the more I think about it, the less I understand it. When I am writing, I don’t think. Which I know, sounds bad. But, I spend every single moment of every single day over thinking, over analyzing, and over assuming every aspect of my life. When I’m writing, I’m free from that for just a little bit. Until of course, my hands stop typing or the pencil (no pens- never pens) stops moving, then I’m right back on the carousel that is my brain. Heidi Estrem says, “...writers use writing to generate knowledge that they didn’t have before.” (Writing is a Knowledge-Making Activity 18). I believe my ability to write without an exact destination
Before I prepare to write a paper I look at the prompt. I then take a smoking break so while I am smoking I am brain storming ideas about what to write about. When I get an idea I write them down one by one as I get ideas. Once I find the perfect spot I start looking at what I brain stormed and look at the main ideas I can write the most about. Once I choose what I want to write about I start structuring my paper. When I see the best structural fit for my sub ideas that lead to my main idea I start writing. Then when I am done I revise it with another smoking break, which helps me see if I can expand on the ideas I already have. If not I just wrap up my paper knowing it was a great well written paper that I gave all my thought into and knowing my professor is going to love my paper.
I have always had troubles writing the introduction of papers. The introduction is the base and sets the mood of the whole paper. I believe it is the most important paragraph in the paper. But once I develop the introductory paragraph, I find the rest of the paper easier to write. In order for me to better myself in writing introductory paragraphs, I just have to get more in touch with my creative side. After the rough draft, the students of the class would bring their papers to the course and would get into groups to peer review the papers. This would helpful to receive the views of our peers to help edit our assignment. After the peer review of the rough draft, the next step of the writing process was the revision. The revision was when we take the information and opinions from the groups and corporate them into our papers. Also, for the revision, you would offer work days for you to proof read our paper before we had to type our final copy. This was extremely beneficial for us to get your opinion on our paper d...
According to Donald M. Murray in The Makers Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscripts “A piece of writing is never finished”. Before this class, I didn’t really revise my essays
It is difficult to get my mind to focus on one idea, which makes it difficult to start a paper. Outlines are a great method for organizing thoughts, but outlines take time, and I have found that outlines do not necessarily help with all types of writing. Between American Studies and Honors Writing, I have written two research papers, for which I was required to compose outlines. The outlines undoubtedly helped the writing process operate smoothly, but I struggle to believe that an outline would have helped me write any other type of paper. In “Literacy, Identity, Imagination, and Flight,” Gilyard shares his approach to education and learning by stating, “A lot of my initial observations are the old ‘go for what you know’ variety that are important back in the ‘hood” (Gilyard 42). I interpreted this a few different ways. The interpretation that resonated with me most was that I can adopt other methods of organization, but sometimes what I am used to is best. This is especially true when I do not have a great deal of time to write a paper. On the other hand, while I agree with going for what I know, I need to begin stepping out of my comfort zone. This begins with finding a way to better organize my thoughts. One of my goals as a writer is to become better at brainstorming in advance, documenting my ideas clearly, then finally writing a paper with
In the chapter about paragraphs it gives many examples of how each paragraph has its own main idea and how a paragraph is the most important unit of thought. The main idea of a paragraph is usually stated or found in the first sentence. According to this chapter many writers find it helpful to think a paragraph as a small version of an essay. A topic sentence needs to be backed up with explanations, concrete details, statistics, or vivid examples. A good example that had those characteristics was the paragraph from Martin Luther King Jr’s essay “The Ways of Meeting Oppression”. This paragraph was unified and well developed and the ideas were arranged logically, making it an excellent paragraph. A paragraph should be as also long to develop
In your final draft, make sure you have strong topic sentences for each paragraph. Also, work on adding original ideas after your details--weave the quotes/paraphrased information into your own writing a little bit more.
Also, the most important information was to make sure the writer does not go overboard on making how small and big the paragraph should be. In this quote, it stated, “Writers need to remember that paragraphs help readers focus and manage their analytical energies. It’s good to have some variance in size and shape but not to overtax your readers with too much variation; it’s useful to write each paragraph with a clear beginning and ending to direct readers’ attention; and it’s helpful if paragraphs come with a blend of information and analysis to help readers “see what you mean” about your sub points and see how they relate to the overall point of your essay. (Reid 15). This quote explains how the writer should incorporated sub points ideas into putting the information all into one main topic. This section also tells the writer how much information a person should inform their audience in their paragraph, but not overwhelm their thought and mind to the reader. I can use this example to understand and tackle only the key ideas that way I do not ever put information that is unrelated to my topic. This section will help me understand what information I need to put in while trying to make my paragraph short and
I start my writing process with a list of possible topics to research. Once I have chosen a topic, I tend to do some initial research to get ideas for subtopics within the paper. I then start my online document and work on my introduction and, more importantly, my thesis or hook statement. I also add a brief explanation of the topic of each paragraph and proceed to look for evidence such as direct quotes to support the body of my paper. After I have found my evidence, I am able to develop my ideas around it. Usually, if I feel that the paragraph does not fully support my argument or topic, I add in more evidence and continue to build the section. While working on my body paragraphs, I also tend to go back to my introduction

I am going to die before I finish this! A lot of people have trouble writing papers and often think that saying. But, there are certain things one must follow to write a proper paper. There are steps to make writing a paper much easier. The writing process and basic structure of an essay help create a proper paper for school such as an Investigative Research Paper.
I selected paragraph writing for this writing selection because I would like to reflect on my areas of weakness and how I improved as a writer. To be honest, I prefer writing a paragraph because it’s short compared to writing an essay. However, I struggle to write a paragraph. When given a topic and asked to write a paragraph long, I have a lot to say but couldn’t summarize the whole topic. That is, I get too wordy when it comes to details, which in fact, I find it hard to get straight to the point. Indeed, I’m a very detailed person, but this writing piece challenged me how to improve my summarization. As a writer, writing is always been a challenge no what matter what type of writing piece it could be. I started writing when I was very young
IN THE INTRODUCTION TRY TO SAY THE MAIN POINTS. THEN, WRITE ONE PARAGRAPH FOR EACH POINT. THEN FINALLY WRITE A CONCLUDING PARAGRAPH.
